I wanted to like this a lot, but found it to be just an average dub. The aroma was slightly sour, I'd like to say skunky but I think was just a little tart and yeasty. Besides that, it has a really nice dark brown semi-clear appearance. Flavor is malty, some light fruit, very slight hops....just wishing there was a bit more of everything. I also noticed that right after I poured it, there was LOTS of carbonation in the first few sips. Kind of like a dry champagne. Thankfully, towards the end of the glass it settled to a normal fizz.

bottiglia 75 cl, schiuma beige media grana evanescente, color mogano limpido, al naso malto spezie zucchero di canna, in bocca malto spezie caramello zucchero di canna, corpo rotondo, carbonazione moderata, dolce con amaro moderato. Classica industrialona ma non male. 01.04.18

UPDATED: MAR 19, 2018 Birra più bock che dubbel dal colore rosso ramato scuro. Aroma debole di caramello, schiuma bianca discreta, al gusto è buona, dal buon corpo e sapori di caramello e di malto lievemente tostato.

luttonm (7221) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 13, 2018
Bottle in Seattle. Creamy, offwhite head. Mostly clear, dark cola brown with gold highlights. Sweet malt aroma. Sip has some cardboard grain, some rather sweet edges. When tasting this blind the other day, I thought it was a doppelbock, and I think it has those elements still. Very nice yeast character. Not my favorite example of a dubbel, but it’s ok.

Blastomorpha (219) - - MAR 3, 2018
Pours dark ruby with a one finger thick white head. Light bealgian yeasty aroma, a bit of winey alcoholic tones, but a bit weak overall. Taste is quite sweet, some dark fuits and spices. In the finish I can get some burnt caramel and malts. Medium high carbonation, quite pleasant mouthfeel. This exceded my low expectations honestly.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2018 Good value, commercial dubbel. €8 for 8 33cl bottles purchased in Belgian supermarket. Sweet, raisiny, honeyed. oloroso, maybe? Strong off-white head. Not up there with the best Belgian dubbels, but decent for the price.
