Bottle at Titos cafe, Georgioupolis, Crete. Reddish copper with a smaller beige head. Aroma: fruity, also dried fruits, ripe pears, syrup, red berries. Taste: dried fruits (of both the dark and exotic kind), sweet, light boozy, ripe pears and red apples, cherries in liqueur. Quite full-bodied. A pretty nice quad that doesnt feel too heavy in the Greek heat. Doesnt compete with the better ones though.

I do like Grimbergen beers, despite the fact they tends to use more artificial and exotic elements to difference themselves from others. I heard about this one from my local "beertender", apparently a strong one. Difficult to believe at first, but seeing its average score on ratebeer, I had to try it, especially after I bought one for a friend without knowing what it worth. Well, this was good indeed. Strong hints of caramel and spices, high alcohol level and much deeper taste than other Grimbergen products. A pleasant surprise. Still not on the same level as my favorite abbey beers but definitely APPROVED BY TAVERNYS BLACK METAL CREW!

Piwo klarowne w kolorzy bursztynowo brunatnym z obfita grubopecherzykowa piana.

Bottle, little over one year past bb date. Pours ruby brown with a cream head. Very sweet and malty, with dark bread, almond, dark cherries, brown sugar, cinnamon, prunes, charcoal, port like vinous notes. A bit too sweet and boozy, but likable.

Pours brown/dark red with a frothy off-white head. The aroma contains malt, caramel, spices, dark fruits and alcohol. It tastes medium to heavy sweet towards the finish, light sour and light bitter. Full body and oily texture. Very alcoholic finish. A bit off-balance. Definitely a dessert beer.
