Just in time for the big weather is the big bottle of Grittys new 21 IPA. Grittys 21 IPA is a unique blend of American hops with a British body utilizing English 2-Row Pale malts. This IPA starts out with a hoppy aroma and taste; ending with a sweet finish. Plenty of Munich and caramalts are used to give the beer that golden hue. There are fifty-six pounds of Cascade Hops used in each 50 barrel batch that is brewed! Then we finish the beer with Willamette & Warrior Hops, (Warrior is a high-alpha acid variety of hops) All this leads to an IPA that is worthy to celebrate our 21st Anniversary!
Gravity: 1069, ABV: 6.8% IBUs: 60.
Note: Bottled version is contract-brewed by Shipyard.

Much fruitier at the nose than I had expected. Solid hop kick to it with maltiness coming through as well. Very tasty stuff although the malt had some asking me if it was really an IPA.

Beautifully balanced IPA. Fairly malty for an IPA. Floral hops. A little bit earthy.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a clear amber body with a lumpy super bubbly foamy head, some light lacing. The smell had hops, pine, malts. The taste was bittersweet through the pine, and hops, subdued malts. On the palate, it sat at/about a light, watery, sessionable, no aftertaste, malty finish. Overall, it was decent for the style, but Im unsure if I would pursue this again.

12 oz. bottle in a four pack from Grays Beverage. Over-carbonated. Had to pour extremely slow and wait as the head died to pour the other 6 oz. of beer from the bottle. Well, the retention last for a good while. Hazy copper in color. Aroma has sweet citrus, caramel and honey. Lots of malt at the back end, not finding much in the way of hops or bitterness. Lots of biscuit, bread malts. The body is medium with a smooth texture. Very sweet and more like a Pale Ale then an IPA or I had some old stuff. Either way it is much better than I thought it would be.

Now named "Maine's Best IPA," this IPA doesn't disappoint. Very rich hoppiness with good malt balance. Flavor is really good. One of the best IPAs out there. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Labelled as "Maines Best IPA". Meh. I havent had them all but I doubt this is true. Aroma of pine hops and dry light toffee malts. Taste has a definite pine hop bitterness kick that dries out the palate. Some sweetness and biscuity from the malts balances it nicely. Standard solid IPA

Cask at GBBF. Clear brown beer. Semi dry and semi soft palate. Rich hops. Not too bitter. Well balanced with some rich malt. Tasty and full of flavour but not in your face.

A mahoganny amber IPA with a thick lacing mocha head. In aroma, smooth floral hops with clover field, biscuit malt, and light honey notes. In mouth, a smooth biscuit malt with vinous notes, nice floral hops with grapefruit notes, very classic. Shared with GRM. BB March 2010.
