A dry, all-malt stout balanced with Oregon Willamette and Yakima Clusters hops. We use six different grains in the brewing of this dark masterpiece.

12 oz. version, which is filtered, is brewed at Shipyard Brewing in Portland; 22 oz. version, which is not filtered and only sold locally, is brewed at Gritty McDuff’s in Freeport

Pours jet black with caramel colored head and little noticeable lacing. Earthy tobacco on the nose. Hints of roasted coffee beans and chocolate. Medium carbonation; pretty dry. Not the greatest stout.

Draught @ the pub. Dark brown with creamy beige head, faint roasted malt aroma, low carbonation, bitter roasted malt taste, thin body, medium finish. A bit weak and watery for a stout.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a deep brown to black with a thin tan head. Big roast, cocoa, chocolate on the nose. On the thin side of medium bodied, cocoa, chocolate, a bit of sweetness. Slow roast into the finish, cocoa, roast, chocolate. Easy with a nice bitterness to balance, roast.

This is the closest American Stout I’ve had to my Gold Standard(Guinness Draught:) Just wish I could get it in PA as I’ve only had this Maine brewed beer in the New England area.

LSAT Freedom Trip #48. Nitro at the Auburn location. Dark brown, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roasted malts, oats, chocolate. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, oats, mild nuttiness. Thin-medium bodied, low carbonation, dry.

Bottle from portland- drank at home with friends. Decent stout- nothing special. Pretty well balanced- not overly sweet. All the right stout notes but much better stout readily available. Once and done.

Une bouteille de 22 oz, cadeau de Frank. Stout noir avec une belle mousse et une tenue des plus solides. Au nez, parfums secs de malts rôtis, de fumée de torréfaction, de cacao et de caramel. Au goût, les saveurs sont agréables sans être extrêmement intéressantes. Un élément terreux se rajoute au tableau des parfums et saveurs déjà repérés. En bouche, j’ai l’impression d’un liquide au corps moyen-faible avec un pétillement normal et une texture un peu légère. La finale est sèche, rôtie et terreuse. Pas si mal. Très simple. Tout de même facile à boire.
