This is the closest American Stout I’ve had to my Gold Standard(Guinness Draught:) Just wish I could get it in PA as I’ve only had this Maine brewed beer in the New England area. kaser (6312) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 1, 2015

Sample at brewpub. Pours black with a khaki head. Slight roasted malt note on the nose. Fairly malty on the tongue with some roast notes. Could use some more hoppiness for balance. Kind of one note.

Bottle from portland- drank at home with friends. Decent stout- nothing special. Pretty well balanced- not overly sweet. All the right stout notes but much better stout readily available. Once and done. SlovakSniper (5561) - Candiac, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 29, 2015
On tap at the brewpub. Close to black in the glass, topped by a dense, two-finger beige head. The aroma is quite roasted, close to bonfire, with some chocolate and coffee grit. It’s dry on the palate, still it feels sort of milk stout sweet. Roasted bitterness, some hops, prunes and a good dash of burnt malts. Very smooth on the palate, medium body. Long burnt finish. Quite lovely. 151609 Meilby (11495) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUN 10, 2015
Draught @ Gritty McDuff’s Brew Pub, Portland, ME
Pours dark reddish brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, lactose sugar and hint of ash. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long chocolate, coffee and caramel finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.
