Draft. Pours black with creme white head that lingers. No visible carbonation with mild hop aroma. Similar to a black ipa style with bitter chocolate finish bit lighter hops. I can't taste the oats. I'm a big fan of black ipas and this beer wets my whistle....

Courtesy of to tderoeck. Thx! 650 ml. bottle sampled during Zwanze Day shenanigans. Pours black with a tanned head. Sweet nose, ripe with blueberries, blackberries & bramble berries sinking in sweet malts, chocolate, coffee, oatmeal. Taste is sweet, previously mentioned berries, thick liquorish but not in a bad way, chocolate, faintly roasted malts & oatmeal, some bitter herbs & liquorish in the back. Creamy body. Pretty nice stuff here. tderoeck (10682) - Gent, BELGIUM - SEP 16, 2013

Clear dark brown beer, creamy beige irregular head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: fruity touch, chloride, citrus, smoky, charcoal, bit dusty. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter start, chocolate, charcoal, weird spiciness, coffee, hops. Aftertaste: cocoa powder, some dried fruits, mocha, bit of caramel, coffee. This is a "sweet" stout? Ok, then... weirdos.
A really tasty stout with good roasted malt notes a touch of hops and a hint of coffee and dark chocolate.

Got this at the Brewpub in Freeport. only available there. Black with off white nitro head. very similar to their black fly, but more concetrated. coffee dominates both flavor and aroma. some caramel. bitter finish. very good, but not that differant than the Black Fly Stout. same flavors, just more of them. 22 oz. bottle now released to celebrate our 25th Birthday. I checked the Grittymcduff.com and this is the same brew named Strong Oatmeal Stout, same recipe.
The nose is deep roasted barley, chocolate and ash. The flavor starts as it should, dry roasted malt with light notes of coffee and dark chocolate that leads to a light to moderate amounts of gentle bitterness which lingers just a tad. The deep roasted barley I really enjoy as a secondary flavor. Texture is on the dry side. Overall a nicely made oatmeal stout that is not overly sweet. Really easy for me to drink the bomber.

Draught in Freeport: This one poured an opaque, almost black color. There was about a finger of a tan head on it that left lots of lacing. The nose is nice. Some sweet chocolate and roasted notes. The taste is also good. A bit of roastiness and coffee, and some chocolate with a subdued sweetness. Some bitterness also. Nicely balanced.
