VSA is an Extra Special golden ale that’s light in color but full-bodied, with a snappy hop finish. A bit of extra time in the conditioning tank rounds out and mellows the ale.

12 oz. version, which is filtered, is brewed at Shipyard Brewing in Portland; 22 oz. version, which is not filtered and only sold locally, is brewed at Gritty McDuff’s in Freeport

GuilTTy (2264) - Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA - JUL 31, 2011
12oz bottle. Pours a clear yellow with a short but thick white head. Unappealing corn-like aroma. Uninspiring light malt flavor with some lemon. Watery texture and a weak, unremarkable finish. Take a vacation from Vacationland.

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2013 Draught @ Brewpub: This one poured a golden color. There was a small white head that leaves some lacing. Some floral, spicy and light citrus notes to the nose. Some malt sweetness also. Taste is a touch dry with a very light bitterness. Almost a medium body. Some malts, earthiness, slight spice. A decent summer brew.

Tihs poured a clear yellow color with a white head. Aroma was light musty german hops and some sweet malt character. Flavor was a bit bland, a tiny bit of lemon zest and sweet malt. Eh.

Bottle. Clear golden with white head. Aromas of cereal, lemon, herbs. Flavors of cereal, lemon, herbs, butter. Balanced finish with hop bitterness in back of palate. Medium-thin body with firm mouthfeel and moderate carbonation.

12oz bottle in a shaker. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of pale malts, a hint of caramel, and some light hops. Nothing really stands out about this beer. Average texture. An ok beer.

Bottle. Aroma is buttery with a bit of hops. Pours a golden color with good carbonation and a thin white head. Taste is light malt, butter, citrus, and then the hop bitterness at the end. Medium body. This is a nice ale that is easy to drink with maybe a bit more hop character than other blondes I’ve had. The flavor is similar to all other Grittys ales but much lighter. I like all of their beers.

AirForceHops (7806) - Epping, New Hampshire, USA - APR 24, 2011
Draft at Jimmy the Greek’s, OOB, Maine. Pours a blond yellow with a good amount of head and lace. Tastes of sweet malt, cereal, bread, and grain. Light body. Lightly dry texture. This does NOT say to me “ drink more” It doesn’t even fit in the Summer seasonal area in my opinion. Slightly below average.

Rciesla (5607) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - MAR 10, 2011
Bottle. Pours a transparent golden honey like body with a white head with fiar retention, nice white cloud afloat. Aromatically hints of earth ,citrus, light pine sap, and a note of musky bread. Soft herbal, a hint of soap, light bread and honey notes.

MiP (15973) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - OCT 6, 2010
Draught at the brewpub. Hazy golden colour. Very small white head. The flavour has some paper, a little grain, but not so bad. Hint of earth.
