pours a dark brown with a tan head. notes of chocolate, medicine, booze, rum. kinda gross. yobdoog (1888) - Kingston, New York, USA - MAR 27, 2009
lost pants? Some good malt sweetness. Reminds of a bock, lack of spice for a marzen. A bit roasted flavor but strange. Rciesla (5499) - Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA - OCT 23, 2008
Draft at hop devil. Amber body with a 1 finger white head. Sweet and fruity apple berries and esters. A bit like butter. Eh so so. hophead75 (2012) - Largo, Florida, USA - MAR 25, 2008
on tap at the Hop Devil Grill. Amber in color with a small off white head. Toasted and munich malts, with some stale caramel and green apple in the nose, taste is about the same, some stale caramel, butter, green apple, and light rubbery phenols. what happened with this? very messy. Dickinsonbeer (5074) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - FEB 4, 2008
Pours a deep amber mild carbonation and a thinning head. Puzzl put the idea of raspberries in my head when he smelled it, so that is pretty much all I coudl smell too- soem munich and toasty malts noticed as well, and I have notes of oxidation and acetaldehyde. Light fruity estery flavor- with some raisin, toasted malts, light caramel, toasted bread, fusel alcohols phenolics and light buring- mild caramel and a light matchstick finish- slick as well.

Tap at HDG. Aroma is lightly butterscotchy with some sweet caramel in the back. Some spicy noble type hops but the sweetness and diacetyl really knock the goodness out of it. I like the malt and hop character but it’s completely overwhelmed by diacetyl. Eyedrinkale (3214) - Astoria, New York, USA - JAN 21, 2008
On tap at HDG. For some reason it has a fruitty grape aroma without any real malts. Tastes like a rainbow box of flavored, melted crayons. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - JAN 20, 2008
On tap. My rating notes sum this one up nice; it was unusual. Had some tasty, almost grape like notes...but this one does not tast like a marzen at all. Lowered the rating a bit accordingly. puzzl (3258) - New York, New York, USA - JAN 19, 2008
Tap at Hop Devil. Nice crisp, clean raspberry aroma, although I can’t imagine that’s what the brewer intended. Estery and oily. Rancid malt flavor, a total mess, astringent and buttery. Yuck. Something has gone wrong with this.
