Zlotta (3104) - Hagen / Bonn, GERMANY - MAY 20, 2017
0.3 l bottle from AH (Groesbeek), best before November 2017. Clear, golden amber with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Very faint, sweetish-malty and a bit floral aroma of honey, straw and some caramel. Moderately sweet, malty and slightly floral taste of honey, grains, some caramel and a touch of straw, followed by a short, medium bitter, slightly grassy and a little spicy finish. Medium to full body, slightly oily and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Not bad, actually more Bock-like than the other Dutch Lenteboks Ive had so far. Overall not very impressive, but given my low expectations quite enjoyable.

(bottle) clear deep golden colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of caramelized grain and canned peaches, with some notes of cardboard, sticky rice and amchur. flavour is mostly oxidized beef and earth, heavily metallic and skunky, with lots more canned peaches and a slightly tart finish. medium- to heavy-bodied with average carbonation. awful stuff.

Bottle shared thanks to my brother. Clear golden with bright white head. Light dry malts, some grass and herbs, honey, light syrup, soft peach. Its not as sweet as I expected with a short dry bitter finish. Medium bodied with fizzy carbonation and some alcohol in the finish. Weirdly alcoholic but not horrible.

Best aardig lentebokje van een fabrieksbrouwer, drinkt makkelijk weg en dus niet erg bijzonder.

Copper-coloured beer, crystal-clear, white head, a few lother bubbles. Smell is sweet and bitter, with a light malty sourness. Hint of caramel. Maybe white pepper. Taste is fizzy sweetish. Nasty sourness which doesnt go very well with the caramel. Not terribly good.

lentebok was the thing before ipa and the beer revolution. grolsch, however, is not my thing. beer a little too artificial. there are better lentes!

Voor een fabrieksbier nog niet eens heel erg slecht. Hij heeft een zoete voorsmaak met een zacht bittere afdronk die niet wrang is. Weinig uitgesproken maar als er niets beters is nog altijd beter dan een pilsje.

When Grolsch started with their Mei/Lentebok in 1992 it was actually pretty good, very much German style. Then in the early 2000s they thought it necessary to improve the recipe, meaning they made it as sticky sweet at their autumnal counterpart. I just tried the 2016 version and it seems theyve gone back to the old recipe: Bottle. Clear deep golden color. Off white head. Aromas: wort, grain, sweet. Retronasal: moderate sweet, wort. Flavor is moderate malty sweet, light fruit, hint of bitterness. Medium bodied. Finishes light to moderate bitter. A pleasant surprise.

Bright blond beer, with a small white cup. Medium carbonation. Tastes sweet, fruity and lemon (hops), malty, slightly bitter.
