An amber beer with a small white disappearing head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, honey, and spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and honey - a lovely flavor. Hildigöltur (5104) - København, DENMARK - SEP 7, 2004
Orange coloured. Sweet aroma with notes of alcohol. Extremely sweet and sugary. Very cloying. JorisPPattyn (10005) - Ursel, BELGIUM - AUG 8, 2004
Good, just yellow tinted head, slightly irregular; dark golden beer, some cold haze. Grassy and "fines herbes" spiced nose - just a bit roasted as well. Sharp initial roasted taste. Very malty beer. I would have expected more herbal, flowery and certainly more honeyish notes in the beer. But, as the label says, only "sugars" have been added. Medium bodied, slightly slick mouthfeel. I’m a bit disappointed by tthis. Grolsch can do much better - they’re one of the few larger breweries with some imagination left. It’s a sweet Helles Bock, nothing more. I guess this is a hellesbock. Deceiving in its packaging as well as presentation in the glass. Light lager appearance but the power of the beer is noted in the mouthfeel. Having said all that the flavour lets it down somewhat. Very biscuity flavour and a low hop balance to malt lets it down. caesar (7162) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - MAR 31, 2003
Clear yellow/orange color, small but lasting head. Aroma of hops. Extremely sweet, which was pretty good in the herfstbok, but pretty please not in this lentebok! It's more of a pilsener, with a lot of honey/toffee sweetness. Not good.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2003 Malty and hoppy aroma. Okay. Clear, light amber coloured, head stays. Very sweet and malty aroma. More bitter and sweet palate. jerohen (2296) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - MAR 27, 2003
Clear orange coloured with small, rapidly disappearing head. Hoppy, pilsener like aroma. Strong flavour, sweet, hopbitter and syrupy. Long bitter finish. Drinkable, but not very special. Catadobe (112) - AUSTRALIA - DEC 9, 2002
Not amazing but would happly drink it if offered. johninmelb (1127) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - SEP 24, 2002
Nice colour, nice taste, nice and strong. Nothing special, but I’d give it another go. thebaron99 (110) - Royston Park SA, AUSTRALIA - SEP 10, 2002
Aromas of cardboard and stale wine, thin head on thin, dark amber body. Grassy bitterness enhances the apparent alcohol, (typical Grolsche?!) Not at all what I expected and not at all like the only other Bock I’ve had which was delicious homebrew. At $4(Aus) for 330mls, I wouldn’t this buy again. Nice label, pity ’bout the beer.
