Faintly hazy amber under a small creamy white short lasting head. Very faint roasted malt and hop bitter aroma. Medium strong roasted malt and hoppy flavoured start. Body is quite thin which allows alcohol to show through easily in the middle and finish. Overall body and accompanying light sweet flavours appear insufficient to mask alcohol. omhper (24970) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - JUL 17, 2002
Pale amber coloured. Sweet and clean. Short flavour. Boring in comparison to other Dutch bock beers. bierkoning (13243) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - MAR 25, 2002
UPDATED: APR 27, 2003 The new beer of 2002. A bit fruity. Hopbitter taste and finish. Dryer than the years before.
Re-rate: 2003 vintage. new recipe: I had to lower the rate considerably. This beer had gained sweetness and has lost hopbitterness and, especially, character. Sweet flavor, sticky and not much more. Still OK to drink, though. CQC (224) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAR 15, 2002
Not too bad, I’ll have another Caton (160) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAR 14, 2002
This may of been a bit old when it arrived to the Aussie shores. Hints of flavour but seemed to have lost of bit of and a bit tired. Still worth a try.

hmm I was way too generous in my first rating. Sourish red-brown bock that tastes like a caricature of a good beer - or a beethoven symphony recorded using only two cans and a piece of string. There’s a few flavours there (chocolate, sourness, orange, honey, grass), but they’re very pinched. duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - NOV 2, 2001
fresh smelling beer, palate tended to be a bit greasy, and the alcohol was evident, not grose by all means, just not that pleasant in flavour, need to have it fresh in the Netherlands i think, i think it was a bit old by the time it got to Oz. motelpogo (7704) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - OCT 22, 2001
was close to its useby date which may explain the initial sour maltiness. slightly citric bitterness at the finish rounded it off nicely. enjoyable jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - OCT 9, 2001
UPDATED: MAR 26, 2005 Aroma of malts with a hint of apple and some skunky hops. Dark golden color, white head, few lace. Very sweet start, malty, metallic bitter, apple and sugar sticky. More like a European Strong Lager instead of a Bock. RobertVerloop99 (130) - Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - AUG 17, 2001
