Grolsch Oud Bruin is a very thirst-quenching dark beer. It is brewed following the classical brewing method of bottom fermenting. This results in a full, rich taste. Such is the skill of Grolsch. The beer is bestowed a mildly sweet taste by addition of natural sugar.

1/1 5/2007 7:14:22 PM Bottle at Bekeerde Suster. When I asked for this the bartender asked if I was pregnant. It’s a low beer alchol and apparently good for pregnant ladies. (I’m a guy.) It’s very sugary and sweet. Not much too it. Didn’t finish it. Strong caramel flavour.

Typical Dutch oud bruin, which is a totally different thing from Flemish oud bruin and which would be called brown table beer in Belgium; thin, watery body as expected, stable, off-white head, chestnut colour, irony and caramelly main character with not much else. Industrial, but it serves a certain purpose as a daily, domestic beverage, like the Belgian table beers.

Bottle @prestonpalaceNL. Dark/copper brown with a beige head. Smells iron, fruit, caramel. Tastes caramel, too sweet.

Appearance: Ruby brown color with a tan head. Good lacing.
Aroma: Caramel malty, toffee, some roasted malt and fruity.
Palate: Medium to light body. A bit sweet and a moderate bitterness. Average carbonation.
Taste: Fruity, bready and caramel malty. Thin texture.
Overall impression: The aroma is quite ok. Just a bit to sweet when I drink it. Otherwise quite ok for its style.
Personal stats: Bottle from Boni in Odijk, Netherlands.

Test vom 15.11.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,8,9,9,9,9 - 8,75

Countbeer (6589) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - AUG 5, 2011
Bottle: Light brown foamy head on top of a ruby brown colored beer. Smell sweets, herbs, brown sweet and spices with some darker fruits. Taste darker fruits, brown sweets and sugars, toasted malts, herbs a hint of something light bitter. Low to medium carbo, soft tingly mouthfeel, medium body and a light watery texture.

Clear mahogany with a medium off white head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt and hints of caramel. Sweet flavour with roasted malt, nuts and hints of caramel. Not as cloying sweet as most of this style. Finished moderate sweet.
