COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
IPA No. 5 is brewed with roasted chestnuts, roasted lentils, and Belgian-style candi sugar. Crystal and Santiam hops are used during the boil and for dry-hopping. Crystal hops bring the classic Northwest IPA pine and citrus notes while Santiam adds hints of tropical and stone fruits.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear orange with a medium sized white head. Soft citrus on the nose, a bit of musk and earth, nutty and orange. Medium bodied, earthy hops, pine and resinous. Slow earthy bitterness into the finish, toast. Smooth and easy drinking.

16 ounce can at tapas place. A bit of a muddled not too hoppy fruit forward too malty IPA.

(Rating #7224)

12oz can picked up at Huckleberry’s
Pours slightly cloudy dark golden with a small off-white head, light lacing. Aroma of wet straw, citrus and oranges. Flavor is herbal, grassy, grapefruit and pine
Ok, but I wouldn’t want it again

Bomber pours a hazy and highly carbonated dark gold with a frothy two finger sand head and good lacing. Aroma is pine floral medicine. Flavor is a little disappointing with metallic notes sprinkled over fairly bland bitter medicine. There are some decent flavors way down underneath, but you have to go through crap to get to them. The aftertaste is better than the taste itself and the bitterness level is a nice medium.

Bottle. Sharp grapefruit aroma. Medium bronze in colour with a very small head. Moderate carbonation. Citrus flavours - mainly grapefruit and a touch of lemon zest. A touch of malts are noticeable in the background. Medium bodied. Long bitter hop finish. Good IPA in my opinion, despite the lowish ratings.

Can from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA. Aroma is pine, pine cleaner. Taste is all pine with little-to-no malt backbone. Funny sour-ish malt / finish. Drain cleaner.

Pours clear golden with a white head. The aroma has fruity hops, citrus and funky malt, but that’s expected. Good but different. It has a medium smooth body with light carbonation. The taste has citrus, berries, crispness and O’s very clean. Doesn’t really taste gluten free. Will done.

In my zeal to try as many WA and OR beers as possible during a recent trip, I made the mistake of ordering this swill. Awful, just plain awful.
