dark brown pour w a tan head. Roasty aroma and flavor. I get some chocolate and prune notes as well. Enjoyable brew. unclemattie (4358) - Georgia, USA - SEP 1, 2009
22oz bottle. Aroma of clean roasted malt. Dark brown. Definite lagering notes. Flavor is a rich malted sweetness. Hints of roast. Lingering spicy bitterness on the back of the palate. Much more enjoyable than the wretched Maggie IIPA. yesyouam (1016) - Fairport, New York, USA - JUL 6, 2009
Grumpy Troll Amnesia looks like it’s the darkest brown ever, with a thin, frothy mocha head with oily bubbles on top. It smells like chocolate-covered raisins and sweet malt. In the mouth, it’s creamy, chewy and medium-full bodied with a soft finish. There are deep flavors of raisin and prune, dark, sweet bread and Dr. Pepper. It’s very rich and enjoyable. noncaloric (684) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 12, 2009
Dark brown pour with a finger of creamy tan head, only temporary lace. Rich chocolate aroma with some underlying smoke. First sip is a all chocolate malts and deliciously creamy. As the beer opens up, the roast malts develop more character, a lot of dark fruits here, cherries and raisins, and an underlying sweetness. Somewhat of a generalized fruitiness even to the basic malt backbone. This is kind of a chocolate banana split rendered it beer form. Full bodied, smooth, creamy. Overall rocking. On tap at the brewpub, pours dark black with little head to speak of. Not much in the nose, but usually hard to nail down in a bar. Taste is as expected from a porter. Malty chocolate, a bit of a Baltic bite that differs from the smoothness of their other porter. Pretty light for the style, but dont take that to mean watery. It’s good but nothing to write home about. I’d order another one.

Bottle at Tronraner’s Xmas Eve^3 tasting. Dark brown pour with tan head. Has a slightly vegetal aroma to it. Sweet roasty chocolate with a creamy, medium chewy body. Love the Grumpy Troll label as well. Not bad after it warms up a bit. nearbeer (5452) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - DEC 27, 2008
Bottle shared by tronraner at his Xmas gathering. Opaque with a small, lasting head and some spotty lace. Nose is coffee, pretzel and some vegetal hints. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, vanilla and light alcohol. Medium body is lightly carbonated and roast-dry. lithy (2996) - Capital of Appalachia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 27, 2008
tronraner’s Xmas Eve Eve Eve Tasting. Sample from a bottle thanks to tronraner. Dark dark brown that is yellowish at the edges and ruby throughout when held to the light. Nose is lightly roasted, nutty and vegetal. Taste is more roasty sourness, light bitter and chocolate. tronraner (2459) - Walland, Tennessee, USA - DEC 26, 2008
Bottle at Xmas Eve Eve Eve. Pours black with amber edges, small beige head. The aroma is fruit and nuts, in a way that kind of reminds me of trail mix, and a light vegetal note. The flavor is roasted grain, some ash, cashew, a bit of roasty sourness. The finish is slightly earthy and bitter. There is a somewhat strange sour aftertaste. Pretty good. joergen (28377) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - OCT 20, 2008
