On draught at the Grumpy Troll brewpub in Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. Pours a clear orange amber colored brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that leaves behind no lacing and no ring. Aroma of sour ginger, apple spice, a hint of raisin, cloves and a hint of rice vinegar. Taste is tart, with flavors of vinegar ginger, apple and a touch of horse blanket. Finish is slightly tart with plenty of ginger aftertaste to keep the flavor around. cbfobes (2885) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - SEP 7, 2010
On tap at brewpub, this beer alone is worth the drive to Grumpy Troll, pours a clear golden color with no head, aroma is full of sour fruit and some funk mixed in, has an intense sour front end with some great sour apple notes to it mixed in with funk, this is a special beer. bu11zeye (13140) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - AUG 24, 2010
(Draught) Pours a hazy golden orange body with small white head. Aroma of baked granny smith apples, barnyard, ginger, and citrus. Flavor of lacto, ginger, citrus, earth, green apple, vinegar, and grass. nuplastikk (6415) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 28, 2009
Wow, this one really works. All WI-area sour freaks should descend upon the Grumpy Troll in search of this one. Fruity, sweet, and tart aroma. Orange amber color, looks unfiltered. The best ginger beer I’ve ever had. Perfectly incorporates the ginger with the lambic-like fruity tartness. Awesome.
