Had this as part of a flight at Grumpy Troll in Mount Horeb, WI. Brownish cloudy color with tan creamy head. Malty and Cocoa aroma. Cocoa chocolate and very nutty. Thick. I like esjaygee (3902) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 20, 2013
On tap at the Grumpy Troll. Hazy brown a with a thin tan lacemaker. Aroma of nuts, roasted malt and mild toffee. Taste is metallic with nuts, toasted malt and mild toffee. deyholla (12583) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 7, 2012
Sampled front the tap at the brewpub. Pours a clear brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a lot of sweet grain with butterscotch and a hint of nuttiness. Flavor has strong butterscotch note with a bit of dark bread and nuttiness. andyhwcinc (1886) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - FEB 19, 2012
Enjoyed on tap as part of a sampler at Grumpy Troll in Mt. Horeb, WI. Appearance a pronounced brown with lighter tone towards the base of the glass and a thn but frothy off white head that laces to the glass. Aroma is unique, kind of weird, molasses and nuts which I can’t say go very well together. Taste is a little better, I think the molasses subsides and the maltier elements come out a bit more. I’m surprised they call it a porter, doesn’t have those elements. Not my fav. boisebeer (61) - boise, Idaho, USA - JAN 1, 2012
This was a really nice beer at GABF. It made my list of top 25 beers. Unranked but 25 of my favorite beers at the festival (I had about 250 beers over 3 sessions.)
Nice looking brown with cooper tones showing. Nice head it appears.
Smell was perfect for a brown I thought.
Taste was really nice with some earth tones coming in along with some spice.
Overall this beer impressed me with its taste and smell.

Thirsty Troll Brew Fest. Pour is brown with hints of red sitting beneath a khaki head. Aroma shows caramel covered nuts and light cocoa powder. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of light brown sugar and a touch of earth. Overall body is moderate and finishes with only a hint of bitterness. UPDATED: DEC 30, 2013 Tap at the brewpub. Red/amber pour, thin white head. Peanut and malt nose. Medium to light palate. Peanut butter and caramel on taste. crossovert (14134) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 14, 2011
It is a beer packed with malt, a bit more robust than your average nut brown ale. Narnad (1521) - Crystal Lake, Illinois, USA - JUN 21, 2011
Deep brown/black in color with a low off-white head. Aroma has an overall malty nose with a hefty toastedness and mild nuttiness. Flavor has rich toasted malt notes, a mild nutty middle and a more burnt malt flavor late. Modest body, plentiful fine carbonation and a smooth light dry finish. Good brew with a great nutty kick to it. cbfobes (2888) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - JUN 13, 2011
On tap at the brewpub over the weekend, pours a dark brown with a rededish hue and a thin head, aroma is sweet with touches of caramel mixed in with the malt and some chocolate, the flavor has nice touches of both chocolate and coffee mixed in with the malt, wow, I’m actually really impressed with this.
