On tap in a snifter at the pub. Deep strawberry red in color. Not much head. Aroma is a beautiful fresh raspberry fruit aroma that is not fake smelling. Floral hops. Bubbling carbonation fades to a smooth raspberry taste that is sweet and tangy. As that flavor fades, a strong malty background appears to let you know that this is still beer. Very well crafted. madvike (3301) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 18, 2010
On tap at the brewpub. Listed on the menu as "Grumpy Raspberry" - Pours amber with ruby tones and a very small white head. Lots of earthy Brett on the nose, with some sharp oak, a bit of chocolate, and a bit of raspberry tartness. The oak seemed a little heavy, but it was a pretty interesting quaff. Taste is more tart and oaky than sweet, though it oscillates between sweet and dry. Finish is lots of oak, minerals, and some raspberry tartness, along with an off sort of foot flavor. I’m not down with feet in my beer. Overall pretty interesting, and I enjoyed it, but the heavy oak made me unsure I’d try this one again.
