Beer poured a dark ruby red with a nice creamy head that left a fair amount of lacing. Smell was of roasted grain but not real strong of an aroma. Taste was of some dark fruit and I think I noticed toffee in there as well. Mouthfeel is medium, this beer is definately drinkable and worthy of a session if you are at the Grumpy Troll. Sweet toffee caramel cream aroma. Too sweet, shot of Twizzlers, so caramelly, too sweet. Dee says: cloying. GeneralGao (3614) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - NOV 22, 2006
Draught at the brewpub. Clear ruby color with thin white head that left a little lace. Smelled of light malty brown sugar, caramel, and a touch of vanilla. Slightly sweet with toffee, toasted bread, and a touch of sprucy hops. heemer77 (5358) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - OCT 22, 2006
The body was dark amber colored with a ligh khaki head on top. The nose was light grapefruit with some wood and chocolate hints. The taste was apples with som sugared grapefruit. There was also a little bit of light toffee in the finish. An ok amber. robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - NOV 9, 2005
Copper Coloring. Sweet Caramel and Malt Aroma. Nice Sweet and Lightly Dusty Malts. Hops Come up in Aftertaste. Not a Bad Amber.

Dark brown or red color with no head. Sweet malt aroma. Malty body with just a whisp of cherry. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - AUG 20, 2005
On tap at the Brewpub. Dark amber and slightly red. Has a white head that disappears quickly. Chocolate malt flavor. Aroma is a little like a smoked cantalope. The bitter finish does not work. This is my least favorite Grumpy beer, but still very drinkable. StewardofGondor (1934) - Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 14, 2005
Clear scarlet/amber in color. Aroma is caramel, pecan shells and cardboard. High carbonation and an acidic ring upfront. Sweetened, syrupy maple and cedar for flavor. Indistinguishably disappointing for the most part. Finishes dry with a walnut casing aftertaste. DavidP (1748) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 1, 2004
Brown body, small ring of white foam on top. Chocolate and toffee in the aroma. Light mouthfeel. Same elements in the flavor. Very light hops in the finish, providing sort of a dry balance to the sweetness. muzzlehatch (4959) - Beloit, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 1, 2004
Very light buttery aroma, lightly smoky, slightly acidic and a bit peppery. No hops.
