COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
By Norse present: ALU by Norse - handcrafted Norwegian farmhouse ale!
ALU - a word shrouded in enigma, frequently found in runic inscriptions in Scandinavia, the proto-Norse word for “ale” and potent magical talisman. Brewing and drinking beer had significant functions in the Norse society beyond festive beverage, essential in various rites and celebrations. After the religious shift in Norway these traditions were maintained, some even by law. Combining thoughts, ingredients and techniques from both the ancient and contemporary brewing traditions of Norway, we proudly present: ALU by Norse - handcrafted Norwegian farmhouse ale. bynorse.com brygghus.no

Poured from a bottle at Bådin Ølfestival. Reddish-dark brown body, filmy layer, crocheted lacing. Dark fruity aromas, lightly spiced. Dark fruits flavours mingled wit herbs, spices and minerals. Rounded malt-fruity end. Medium bodied. A different and interesting brew. (Bodø 19.05.2017).

Foffern (1983) - Bodø, NORWAY - JUN 11, 2017
Bottle at Bådin Ølfestival, Bodø. The colour is unclear deep mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma of dried fruit, chocolate, leather, smoke, licorice, oak, black currants and some cold coffee. Feels slightly sour. Flavour of oak, dried fruit, rye bread, leather, rubber and some smoke. Hint of alcohol. Has a slick mouth feel, medium body and a light bitterness. Interesting with a very nice aroma. A little unbalanced flavour.

Gylden brun lett tåkete med lavt beige skum. Lukter trevirke, kaffe, nøtter og noe ost. Middels fylde. Nøtter, lett bitter kaffe, granskudd og drueskall. Kort.

From bottle at Humlepupp Festival 2016. Dark brown body, small head. Aroma is herbal, spicy yeast esters, mild smoke. Taste is dry, again pretty herbal, with juniper and a forest feel to it. Light lasting bitterness.

On tap @ Apollon. Deep copper-hued mahogany brown body, small off-white head. Nose is licorice, deep malty tones, leather, herbs and hints of smoke, honey and molasses. Taste is herbs, licorice, honey, leather, burnt toast and hints of molasses, nuts and deep malts. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Original stuff, and a cool historical recreation-type of beer. Perhaps more interesting than good, but pretty nice nevertheless.

On tap at Tre Brør Bar, Voss. Pours very dark brown with a one inch creamy beige head. Aroma of sourish malts, juniper. Taste is light bitter juniper and smoke, rather short lived taste, but very interesting and moreish beer.

Holmen2 (4132) - NORWAY - MAY 7, 2016
From tap at Tre brør bar, Voss, with JMD, OGJ and KH 07.05.16. Nut brown. Dense beige head and lacing. Aroma of old seahouses, creosote and medium dark malt. Similar taste, with sweet gale and burnt circuit boards. A hint of chili in aftertaste. Fairly dry and refreshing.
