In short: A candy-like syrupy stout. Decent beer even if not my thing.
How: Bottle at Mosquito, Barcelona.
The look: Black body topped by a tan ring of foam.
In long: Nose is on the candy black liquorice and molasses. In mouth the beer has a slightly syrupy texture (unusual for a relatively low abv beer) and a medium carbonation. Taste is soft black liquorice candy, black jelly beans, some toffee, some molasses, chewing tobacco. A lot of sweet flavors but leafy hops dry out the finish nicely. This is a well-made beer but I’m just not very fond of that type of candy syrupy stout/porter, I prefer my session dark ales to be more roasted and drier. This one didn’t do it for me, and it really cranks my spine up that I don’t know if cranking my spine up means anything or if it is an expression I just made up.

This is really good. Beautiful looking beer. Aromas of anise, coconut, cream, chocolate, vanilla, coffee. Flavors are black coffee, wet dog, anise. Fizzy..kind of weird for a stout but still quality stuff here. Thanks Michaela for bringing this back for me from Spain. You’re a gem!

Tasting at the ever gracious ChrisO’s. Lightly hazy red - amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is light and airy. Slightly sweet and airy dark malts. Little cream and a touch of dark fruits. Light coffee. Light finish. Well integrated.

Bottle at Chriso. It pours dark brown with a small biege head. The nose is sweet, cola, caramel, candied orange peel, earth, varnish and dirt. The taste is roasted malt, toast, sweet, treacle, cocoa, earth, cocoa, dirt and ash with a dry, roasty finish. Medium+ body and fine carbonation. Pretty OK.

Pours thick and black liquid. Low sized brown head, good retention. Cooffee and nuts aroma. Creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation. Long, balanced finish, reminds me of nuts and black fruits. Taste is complex and excellently balanced; coofee, black chocolate, nuts, raisins.
