The best way to describe this beer is mix 50% Guinness with 50% Michelob Ultra... It has a very good taste, then after you swallow , the taste disappears like Ultra does? So? Less filling / Tastes great while in mouth? User42649 (209) - - JAN 5, 2012
I was really looking forward to this one. Any expectations I held were immediately snuffed out with the first sip. It seems to be a pale lager with just enough roasted malt to color it - which is very little. What is "cold-brewed", anyway?? Very thin body, very abrupt finish. May be a passable "lawnmower beer", except for the price. SPDickerman (1239) - Texas, USA - JAN 5, 2012
Pours dark brown with a large fluffy head. Smells like a dark malted lager. Tastes mildly malted and mildly hoppy. Light-bodied with a wet texture and mild mouth-carbonation, Guinness Black Lager finishes rather blandly. astrofrk (341) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 4, 2012
Bought at Krogers.
Black. Med. creamy, beige head. Aroma: Roasted chocolate malts. Flavor: Roasted coffee, like a light Stout. Roasty, clean finish. drjay44 (3742) - Salida, Colorado, USA - JAN 4, 2012
Ignoring the directions to drink straight from the bottle, I poured it into aglass. Poured a thin short lived head, over a clear, brown (SRM 30) body....nose is hints of coffee, chocolate (my imagination may have run rampant),, strong cereal....taste is ligth cereal malt, finishing with a bit of bitterness.....mouth feel light and watery, carbonation adds a sharp tongue startling bonk. This is not a Schwartzbier. It is a Pale Lager dyed black. When the brewery tells you to drink it from the bottle, it means "it don’t have no aroma". BJCP 5/3/9/4/5

12 ounce bottleFratto (2845) - Arlington, Texas, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Aroma: minimal aroma- slight roasted malts, sulfur
Appearance: solid black, no head
Taste: some roasted malts, touch caramel sweetness
Palate: thin, highly carbonated
Overall: This is a very boring beer. Bland and no character to it at all.
Bottle from pikapp327. On a night filled with cheap malt liquor, I was really hoping this would be the stand out beer of the night. Dark pour with a small tan head. Aroma is faintly roasted and pretty subdued. Taste is milky sweetness, sour grain, and a little more roast. Oh well. Cavie (4725) - Arlington, Texas, USA - DEC 31, 2011
Bottle courtesy Fratto via pikapp327. Im already confused. This beer pours super dark. Black and brown color. Tan foamy head. Aroma is lightly chocolate and metallic. Flavor is dry, metallic, and a slight bit gross. No thank you. scarletfire65 (1472) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 31, 2011
Very dark brown / black pour. The aroma is off, slight roasted malt, licorice, but also an uncharacteristic earthy mushroom aroma. Smells oxidized. Dissipates as the brew warms, but off putting at first. Light bodied, high carbonation, watery palate. Slight roasted malt, slight hoppiness, abrasive finish.
