Bottle. Pours black with a small white-ish head. Pretty light on aroma but there is some malty scent with some light roasty notes. Taste is a light lager.. some well done barley in the mix. This is pretty decent but way overpriced. AWMiller (512) - Mansfield, Texas, USA - DEC 29, 2011
I did not care one bit for this brew. Something sort of "off"/bitter in the aftertaste that was just a downer. Aromas were weak as well as the flavors. Very thin and watery in texture. Only upside was the excellent lacing on the glass (but who wants to pay for that?!). sodakotakid (230) - Belle Fourche, South Dakota, USA - DEC 28, 2011
This beer is highly carbonated with a thick head. I get a taste of roasted malts and carbonation. It has a nice black color!! johnnyoski (445) - Macomb, Michigan, USA - DEC 28, 2011
Bottle. Near black color with a small off white head. Roasty aroma with hints of coffee. Roasted malt flavor with a slight chocolate sweetness. Well carbonated with a dry, watery texture. Easy drinking but void of much taste. Spelt (232) - East Kingston, New Hampshire, USA - DEC 27, 2011
Close your eyes and the aroma would convince you that perhaps you were sniffing over a German pilsner. Nice noble bouquet. Perhaps a little sulfur. Very, very dark mahogany with a thick tan head that falls rather quickly (unlike the ale). Remarkably smooth mouth feel with a nice light level of carbonation. Flavors are not as bitter as I would have anticipated although the sweetness is subdued as well. Definitely some dark fruits and carmel notes. Light finish. Actually quite refreshing.

Nice light swartzbeer. Watery with a decent roast malt and a highly carbonated pour and mouthfeel. j12601 (12000) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - DEC 24, 2011
Bottle. Pours brown to black, with a medium sized beige to tan head. Roast, thin malt on the nose, grainy toast. Thin and roasty. Basic shwarzbier. Grain and roast. Meh. Hawksfan17 (890) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - DEC 23, 2011
Caramel malt aroma on this dark brown brew. Roasted flavor with a sweet finish. retinadoc (236) - - DEC 22, 2011
Not much going on with this beer. The jet black appearance and the relatively strong carbonation are the strongest features of this beer. Aroma is very thin. Appearance is black, obviously, with slightly reddish overtones. Taste is thin: very slight resin hops, slightly sweet caramel initial flavor, improving in amplitude within the mouth, with a slightly bitter finish. Not a bad beer, but definitely not a good one. Other schwarzbiers offer a lot more flavor than this one. DocLock (10691) - Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 21, 2011
Bottle from Capone’s. Pours thick jet black with tan head. Nose is like a hoppier regular Guinness. Tastes malty, with resiny hops, less malt character than regular Guinness, and a lackluster body. A disappointment that just might change the joke where Arthur Guinness, Pete Coors, and Augie Busch sit around discussing beers.
