Pours a dark cola color with aroma of roasted malt. Taste is thin with little complexity. Great advertising because I was expecting so much more from this beer. Overall a drinkable beer that lacked flavor.

11.2 oz. bottle- Poured into a glass against what the directions say- Pours dark brown with little transparency and a thin tan head. Aroma is all roasted malts and it’s a bit nutty, ha ha. The flavor is roasted malts and subtle coffee shows itself, sweet and sessionable. The body is slightly watery, but I am beginning to respect that, not everything has to be thick as tar, carbonation is moderately high. Decent beer, it doesn’t deserve the rock bottom reviews here.

BeerHawk (1810) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - NOV 18, 2011
Bottle. Poured black with a tan head. Aroma of dough, vegetable, and toasted malt. The flavor found mainly toasted malt. Light body.

Braudog (6804) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - NOV 17, 2011
Bottle. Why did I get so excited to see this ... something different from Guinness. But in the end it comes across as just another macro, albeit dark and roasty. Drinks with a sweet, malty edge, and lacking any serious bodily strength. So-so at best. (#4356, 11/17/2011)

Pours dark black with nice lacing tan head, aroma brings notes of some weird vegetal, touch of roast, hints of grain maybe? Very fizzy and thin on the palate, taste is thin as well with hints of slight roast, some odd metallic notes, hints of grain, very slight hint of roast, leaving an unpleasant metallic and sweet combination at the end.

troyc (2869) - Illinois, USA - NOV 16, 2011
[Bottle] Pours a very dark brown color with a rocky looking brown head. Aroma is of roasted malts, anise and light ash. The taste is of roasted malts, brown sugar, hints of smoke, mild nuts and metal. Generic sweetness lingers in the finish. Light in body. Pretty much exactly what I expected from Guinness. Not too bad.

nike (966) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 16, 2011
12 oz bottle, poured into a lager glass, black in color with frothy head with a little lacing on the glass. Aroma is decent beer with a hint of citrusy smell. Taste is clean, crisp, palate is thin and watery, good lager flavor. Lively CO2, good Black Lager.

cmonster (1000) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 15, 2011
Bottle served in a Guinness pint. Black in color with a medium-large khaki head. Short retention, decent lace. Aroma is tinny, lightly roasted malt. Flavor the same. Light-medium, body, thin creamy texture, and a soft, short finish. Easy drinking, not very interesting.

jsmerig (1663) - Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 15, 2011
aroma is a bit sour. pours dark black. Highly carbonated in a bubbly sort of way. Taste is a bit thin. not a big fan.

Guinnessman (102) - VACAVILLE, California, USA - NOV 14, 2011
WOW! This stuff did not taste like I expected it to, it was wayyyy better than I had hoped. Goes down smooth just like any other lager, but has that oaky almost German quality to it.
