deep brown, small tan head, light lacing, not guinness style.. roasty almost to the point of being burnt aroma, light fruits, thin aroma... lightly roasty, light fruits, toasty, not much hops, lightest grassy... thin light body, a little slick... tastes like an ok american dark lager... reggiedunlop (3725) - The dub c, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 11, 2011
Pours deep brown/black with a large foamy tan head. Nice lacing and retention. Aroma is very faint but has a bit of roastiness and a bit of coffee. Flavor is slightly better...a bit roasty, some spicy hops, and a bit of a metallic note. Mouthfeel is light and lively with a mildly roasted, mildly dry finish. Largely unimpressive. Tallahassee, Fl - Publix Supermarket - 12 oz bottle. Very dark brown pour, light, but persistent khaki colored head - a bit of trailing lacing. Aroma is somewhat neutral, a hint of fresh lake water, very brief chocolate. Flavor has some hints of dark chocolate, a bit of day old coffee, wisps of licorice. Medium thick mouthfeel - par for the style. Decent schwarzbier. SSSteve (4006) - - SEP 10, 2011

Pours a very dark brown color, almost black but has a distinct reddish hue when held up do the light. The head is small but fairly well retained. mcjay (463) - Neenah, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 9, 2011
The aroma is nice and roasty rich and kind of chocolaty as I pour it from the bottle then whoops; where did it go? I was so happy about that aroma now I can’t find it anywhere?
The flavor is very clean all around with only mild roasty notes, a little bit of chocolate. What’s there is nice enough, but this is very low in flavor.
The plate is very thin & the finish is very quick.
Well, this one pretty well sets the bar for me as far as totally unremarkable but absolutely unoffensive goes.
Pitch black with a foamy but quickly dissipating tan head. On top of the roasted malts the aroma has a mild woody hint and the flavor is relatively dry an bitter. The blackest lager around. Not bad wlajwl (6876) - Quad Cities, Iowa, USA - SEP 8, 2011
UPDATED: FEB 1, 2012 Mild roasted maltiness in the aroma while the appearance is darker than most other black lagers. The flavor is of roasted malts and rather thin in body. Decent but could have been more flavorful. dlovell2 (2169) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - SEP 7, 2011
Dark brown with amber tint and tan head. Roasted malt smoky aroma. Roasted malt flavor some chocolate and smoke. Thin feel in mouth. scotchzi (302) - Florida, USA - SEP 7, 2011
Pour is light brown. no head. smell is roasty. taste is watery and roasted like a not so strong black tea.
