Dark brown color, good creamy beige head. Grainy, slightly toasted, ashy aroma. Light to medium bodied. Light toasted flavor, vegetables, a bit grainy. Fizzy, coloured pale lager. Waste of 9.99 dollars.

Oakes (16969) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 25, 2010
Bottle, KL. Dark chestnut colour. Thin head. The aroma is thin, chocolatey-cookiesh (think Oreo with less sugar) with vague nuances of earthiness/mushrooms. Light body. Not of a lot of character. Itís clean, with some rather vague roasty/chocolatey notes. Thin finish. Drinks very easy. Fairly inoffensive beer that stylistically probably slots in as a very light schwarzbier.

Pour is cola in color with a thick off-white head. Nose is bland, but a bit roasty. A little bit sour, maybe? Really watery...itís hard to really smell anything. The flavor is just as bad. Itís almost like drinking black water. Just a hint of roasted malt, a tinge of sourness, perhaps a light earthiness, but Iím really stretching for that one. Not sure what the appeal is here.

Pours black with a slight creamy tan head. Odor is light citrus followed by very dark malt. Med minus body. Flavor is thin dark malt. It is bitter. However, this is not a substantial beer. But it is rather flavorful.

Bottle poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of roastiness, light fruittiness and a hint of carmel. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of roastiness, light carmel and a hint of fruittiness with a crisp lingering roasty finish.
