A black pour with a lasting beige head with good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, barley with some chocolate notes. Taste same as aroma with some light bitterness. Palate is a medium body with moderate carbonation. Finish is roasted dark malts, barley, some yeasty notes with some light hops on the end. Seems a bit lacking in flavor and aroma for this style but drinkable. Overall nothing really remarkable, an average brew

Pours black, of course. Has a nice tan head and some lacing. The head retains pretty well...Aroma, the main thing I notice is coffee. There’s some roasted malt in there. But it’s more like drinking bottom of the pot coffee....Taste, still coffee, maybe some cocoa. The roasted malt comes through a little more in taste than in nose....Mouthfeel, yeah, it’s pretty smooth, it’s well balanced. Semi dry. It’s pretty heavy....Overall, it’s not bad. It reminds me of a regular Guinesss, I guess you could call it a Guinness Light. It’s not what I would call sessionable. Stldsf1 (659) - Florida, USA - JUN 24, 2012
Roasted malts and light toffee. I really think the rating for this may be higher if it didn't say Guinness on the label. Not an awful black lagar

Pours a thin black with a medium tan head. Aroma is mild with hints of roasted malt. Flavor is rather watery with roasted malt and metallic notes and hints of chocolate, caramel, and grass. Thin body with medium carbonation. Just too thin and watery with not much flavor. BierMeHoos (644) - Maryland, USA - SEP 23, 2014
From a bottle. Black pour with a very thin head. Sweet malt aroma. Sweet on the palette and all around just ok. Not a fan just kind of blah.

Aroma of roasted coffee, taste is roasted coffee, malty, mild alcohol, easy drinker. MattShizzle (618) - Bernville, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 14, 2012
Bottle - free sample at distributor. Dark, but pretty clear. Roasty aroma. Flavor is pretty bland. A bit like a US mass market lager with a bit of roastiness added. mrjaxson (618) - .08 Junction, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 26, 2013
Momma says always stress the positive, so I’ll say that Black Lager looks good. After that, well, (sorry mom) the roasted grain aroma is sharp and unpleasant, the beer is thin, and the finish leaves an unpleasant bitterness.
