UPDATED: MAR 13, 2005 Very good variation on the original...uses a nitro widget to deliver a massive head that never fully dissipates. Aroma is very pleasant as is the appearance - dark, forboding, sensual. A little watery for my tastes and the carbonation is almost undetectable after the first minute or two. UPDATED: OCT 13, 2005 Nitro widget can. Pours a strange tan, which turns to black as the bubbles dissipate. A creamy, too-white head sits atop this oddity. Aroma is not offensive and not delighting--a slight hint of dark malts and little else. Flavor is as uneventful as the aroma until that weird, unappetizing Guinness sourness comes in. Far too watery for a stout. I used to love this stuff, but now it strikes me as a porter stricken with off-flavors. driver (3) - Elkhart, Indiana, USA - FEB 13, 2005 does not count
This is the stout by which all stouts should be judged by. The widget cans and bottles add the draught taste without paying some foofoo posuer pub price.

Can with a nitro widget. Pours an unnatural creamy tannish color and texture that gradually settles out into a black liquid with a thick light brown foam that lingers almost indefinitely. Aroma is mild, roasty malts primarily with hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Flavor is roasty malts with a bitter finish. Mouthfeel is fairly watery and rather objectionable - I blame the widget. Despite the foam on the top of the brew, there is no carbonation to speak of left in the beer after the nitro settles out - yech, yech, yech. The first stout I ever had and I still drink it with friends at the pub. This is a dark brown beer with a very creamy head. Roasted malt with a hint of coffee. This stout is just a little thin. GTown (127) - New York, USA - FEB 12, 2005

Nitro Can. (re-rate due to the 10th anniversary of 2Pac on RateBeer). Very deep rubyish black colour with a mediumsized white head. Mild smoked wood, some slight roasted malts as well as mild ashes. Flavour is ashes, mild roasted notes with some rye and mild creamy notes. Quite a thick palate, though not too strong flavour. 6 4 6 4 13. Nice to see that the points given a long time ago are still the same on this one.
I don’t understand the fascination with Guinness. Smells great, looks good, tastes like cigar ashes. Maybe I had a bad one. But it was not good.
