COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Labatt’s brew a pale ale base to which is added the unfermented but hopped Guinness wort extract. Guinness Extra Stout is brewed in Canada by Labatt under license from Arthur Guinness Son & Company. Editor’s Note: It looks like Moosehead is also brewing Guinness. Bottles in the US are from there of late, but Canadian bottles are still showing Labatt. 04/23/06

Dark black/brown. Thick tan head. Dynamic. Several layers of roasted malt. Hint of sweetness. Different flavor profiles throughout each sip. Interesting, but not something I would buy often.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2018 1/12/18 With Abby while watching Return of the Jedi. Poured from bottle. Opaque dark brown with a substantial tan head. Nose is heavy on sweet, dark chocolate malts. Notable caramel and coffee present as well. Smells like a great stout. Taste is similar. Heavy on chocolate with roasty caramel malts and coffee coming through. Noticeable hop bitterness rings a nice balance to the malt sweetness. Palate is medium body with a dry, butter finish. Hops really come through after swallowing. Overall, this is an excellent, classic stout. What a stout should be and doesn’t try to get too fancy. I’m a big fan.

Watery beer. No pleasure. Maltiness, it is boozy for 5%. Thats all for what i know for this brewery and this style. Just a commercial brew. Wasting money.

I kind of liked it but it wasn't one I would tend to drink but I'm not sure why. A pretty well-balanced beer leaning towards the hoppy side. Very mild carbonation. It has a long, slightly bitter finish. very late in the finish I get a slightly metallic taste that lingers ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ciemne, niejprzejrzyste. Bardzo ładny lacing. Lekko kwaskowe, delikatna goryczka w posmaku. Zapach palonych ziaren kawy, trochę pietruszki? ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Go to daily beer. Always like it. Easy to get at grocery stores in Metro D.C. Far superior to the draft beer, which is rather flat and not very complex. Extra stout Foreign is better too. Whole Foods has it.

Just a no nonsense stouter version of the basic Guinness. I wouldn't go crazy trying to find it ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber from Kroger’s. Close to black and opaque, medium bodied. Roasted malt nose. Taste is bitter chocolate, malt and hops, with hops dominating the finish.

Rich black color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, & some dark fruit; Flavor of roasted malt, hops, caramel, and some chocolate; Finish is slightly bitter; Overall, pleasantly surprised - pretty decent.
