Big thanks to douglas88 for hosting and opening this cool brew. The can pours with a dark molasses sort of look supporting a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweetness, black strap molasses, a light sour mash sensation and then some dark roasted malts. The taste has a pleasing mix of brown sugar like sweetness, a quick sour mash note, a light degree of sweet dark fruity esters and a dash of lactose. These notes come together pretty well.

Luneylane (95) - Taipei City, TAIWAN - DEC 7, 2016
a small can from our recent holiday in Singapore, rated back-to-back with ABC Extra Stout. Aroma: generous roasted malt. Appearance: looks like Guinness. Palate: full-bodied and creamy, light carbonation. Long and complex malty finish. Taste: very, very satisfying. This is what we would like to taste when we crack open a can of the regular convenience store offering. I cant believe its only 5.5%, oh for a can of the Nigerian version!

Bottle from Cold Storage, Singapore. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off white head. The aroma is creamy caramel malt, dry light coffee. The flavour is moderate sweet with a rich light oily liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Aroma: roasted dark malts (locally even burnt). Appearance: black color and beige head. Taste: roasted dark malts, smoky notes (burnt malt), slightly acid, ashy, quite dry. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation, roasted finish. Overall: Really roasty beer, drinkable.

Slightly sourish beginning. Intense grainy with nice malty sticky body. Easy to drink with a nice and full body. Great stuff for 5.5%.

(Can) Looks like they have dropped the ABV again - mine says 5.5%. Black with rather short lived tan head. Aroma of dark roast malt, chocolate and seaweed. Medium body with plenty of carbonation. Pleasantly sweet to start with notes of dark chocolate, bitterness steadily develops for a long finish. Pleasant but not exceptional.

640ml bottle. Pours black with a big head, less dense than the original Guinness, but still sticky. Slight roast notes in the aroma. Taste of liquorice and burnt chocolate, bitter. Unsatisfying finish for this rather big taste.

I had it from a 320 ml can, on a Singapore airlines flight. Great to know they have stouts in such flights and they had the ABC stout too (their Selection of International Beers does not go beyond the exciting frontiers of Heineken and Tiger). Unfortunately the stout was neglected, as they had not chilled it. At room temperature it was still nice, black with a very bubbly head, medium bodied and quite blunt, roasted malts, unripe coffee berries, an acidic character and a dry finish. It did feel more like a dry stout.

Decent stout, quite full bodied for a mass market beer. The raisiny flavour kind of overpowers the chocolate.
