COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Foreign Extra Stout is a beer like no other. The most full-flavoured of all. Singular and striking. Uniquely satisfying. Brewed with extra hops and roasted barley for a natural bite. Bitter and sweet. Refreshingly crisp. Always rewarding. Pure beauty. Pure GUINNESS.

Editor’s Note: This is the standard FES. Sometimes it is imported from Ireland but more often it is brewed locally. This version is most common in the Caribbean and Africa. All versions from those places, save for Jamaica, Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana should be rated here.

As expected, my bottle of mud pours deep and black, with a thin chocolate head that held steady throughout the serving. Without the nitrogen pour, the bubbles were a little bigger, of course, but the lacing was still generous. A little fuller in body, the hoppy bite was noticeable, relative to the standard U.S. Draught version. There’s a little alcohol heat and a nice lingering sweetness, balanced by the hoppy bitterness. While I like this better than the typical draft, Guinness is still a far cry from any number of the HUGE assortments of stouts and porters readily available in nearly any local brewpub or brewery. All in all, while this is a very serviceable quaff, I’d prefer to drink local and fresh.

Mention "Excellent" 18/20

Jet black with strong and thick and dark brown color foam. Aromas of smokey, coffee and dark chocolate with sweet vanilla hints and cream. Palate, full body with creamy texture leaving soft coffee finish. Taste, is somewhat mroe sweet than bitter with cocoa and black chocolate notes as well as cream and touch of light hops? Overall, nice beer, lovel aromas and texture, taste is fine, not excelent though.

Opaque, foamy. Full body, flavorful, nice heat and carbonation, lingering aftertaste. Bitter, not so dry, crisp, great balance. Roast barley flavor, smoky. Best Guinness to my taste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from B&M, Team Valley, Gateshead. Inky black with a thick tan head of foam. It has a sweet, rich liquorice, chocolate and plum flavour with brine notes and a warming, chocolate, roasted, leather and oak finish. Very Good.

Pours black with a full, foamy, thick tan head. The aroma consists of toasted malt, hazelnut, toffee, and hints of chocolate and espresso. Heavy bitterness in the taste. Here I find an interesting blend of toffee, licorice, toasted malts, and chocolate, which I’d say is are evenly balanced. I do get a some slight floral elements as well. The aftertaste is a long and lingering slightly toasted toffee. Its light to medium in body, with an oily texture, and some fizzy softer carbonation. An stout that is different than most others, I wish I had tried this one sooner.

Nose: weak coffee and malt Taste: medium full bodied, roasted malt, dark cholocate and coffee, average carbonation, simple bitter sweet beer! Aftertaste: medium long It’s good but it must be serve from a cask! IMO, a bottled or canned Guinness rating will be lower.
