I was able to try this as part of the Winter Sampler pack. First off, why is this beer, or any of the other Guinness brews stuck in a package with the disgusting Guinness Black Lager, I will never know. This has a nice vanilla taste, strong roast, and a hint of toffee. This is a great beer, and worthy of the Guinness name, unlike a earlier mentioned brew. ronaldtheriot (1978) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - JUL 9, 2013
Guinness Generous Ale has a medium, off-white head, a clear, reddish-brown appearance, lots of bubble streams, and just a few bits of lacing left behind in splotches. The aroma is of straight-up brown bread crust, with just the faintest spice. Taste is the same, with wonderful sweetness and a pleasant hop bitterness at the end. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Guinness Generous Ale finishes clean, refreshing, and ultra drinkable. This is a superb offering from Diageo. RJT elad (12) - - DEC 29, 2012
This is a good beer! Nice roasted barley flavor with a hop taste at the end. I dig this beer too bad it’s only available in a variety pack. I would love to be able to buy it in a 6 or 12 pack! Dacrza (1024) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - JAN 11, 2013
Situation: Celebrating a three-day week...
Glassware: Kisatsky pint...
Appearance: three-finger head completely fills the pint...dark cloudy lacing; strong dark brown body...
Aroma: malty, lactic base that is signature Guinness stout; a small hop trail, but malty as a Brit should be...
Palate: medium-bodied, mildly effervescent; a bit buttery....
Taste: malt tickles the teeth and tongue; mellow and smooth; an enjoyable session ale; do not really see the winter aspect of this beer....
Overall: a red in the vein of Newcastle’s Werewolf, but a bit more substantial and more agreeable

Has malt bready spice aroma. Dark almost black and ruby colored body. Has a thick two fingered foamy head that lingers for a while. Much like the Guinness Draught in taste but has a maltier presence and thinner feel. Mild spiciness. Leaves a smooth creamy feeling.

Can. Ruby brown color with a good sized beige head that went down fairly quick. Once the head diminished the aroma was sweet fruity malt and mild medicinal hops. Flavor is creamy malt followed by dry, spicy hops and a creamy, smoky, bitter finish. Medium bodied with a very mild carbonation all combine to make this something Guinness has mastered; very smooth and easy drinking but still satisfying. Loved it. bpar73 (1177) - Bellaire, Michigan, USA - MAY 22, 2015
Can. Dark amber pour with a creamy off white head. Roasted malt, spice and a bit of vanilla in the aroma and taste. Aurelius (5494) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JAN 4, 2013
Clear mahogany brew, bone colored head, good embossed bottle, styling label. Malty aroma. Pleasant UK brown ale flavors. Tannic, lightly sweet, some light fruit, bitterness sneaks up and builds over the session. Medium body, mildly sweet finish. Thanks to PorterPounder for the trade.

Part of a Guinness limited edition variety pack. Poured from a can. Great appearance, high frothy head, nice dark red appearance. Vanilla notes but otherwise a fairly standard ale. Drake (14059) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 13, 2012
Bottle from the Winter sampler, from Harris Teeter Crozet. Pours a clear dark amber color with a large frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of nutty notes, toffee malts and a fruity finish. The taste is citrus, stone fruits, caramel malts, earthy notes, mild hoppy finish. Medium bodied. Solid beer.
