Gulden Draak, lonely at the top for 25 years, now gets company
The birthday present: Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple, an enrichment of the Gulden Draak range.
An ode to the past and to the city of (9000) GHENT The Gulden Draak is named after the gilded statue on top of the belltower of Ghent. Such eminent symbol, that has been standing firm for over 6 centuries, deserves equally grand beers. The unsurpassed Gulden Draak as dark tripel of 10,5% alcohol gets, after 25 years of growing success, quite an addition, the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple.

All features of the Gulden Draak The extremely rich and complex taste sensation and the stable beer head can also be found in the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple. The sweet caramel touches, however, are still reserved for the Gulden Draak.

With addition of extra malt The new recipe, on basis of 3 different kinds of malt added in a volume of 4 times the content in lager, provide the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple with a deep golden amber colour and a fruity scent. Together with the smooth and subtle sweet taste ensures this a wonderfully accomplished bouquet.

In line with the traditions of Brewery Van Steenberge Just like the other specialty beers of Brewery Van Steenberge is the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple a beer of high fermentation with secondary fermentation. A wine yeast is used for the secondary fermentation, which also contributes to the grandiose taste.

Nice Amber color, thick off white head. Aroma malt and alcohol, look and aroma similar to boulevard 6th glass but taste is smoother and has a nice creamy quality. I don't taste as much of the dark fruits like other quads but still has a sweetness that I'm not placing. Very good. I'd rank below St. Bernardus XII and Rochefort 10, think I like 3 Philosophers better as well. But definitely a step above Sixth Glass and very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2015 Nice Brown head, cloudy dark amber color. Simple palette, strong, sweet malty taste. This is a nice beer but a little to sweet for me, just like the regular gulden draak.

Alcohol smell with notes of vanilla, amber color with low foam, strong sweet taste, even if it is a strong beer, it has a light body, easy to drink. It’s on the right direction, but i miss more character.

Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple is rich and malty. Beautiful dark amber pour with a thick tight head. Aroma is all malt. Taste is all malt and heavy but without the alcohol bite (especially for the ABV.) Not much complexity, but enjoyable just the same. Draak 9000 is a nice quaffable Belgian that will leave you satisfied.

11.2 oz. bottle from Pringles. Appearance: 3 fingers tan head, orange golden color, cloudy, ok lacing. Aroma: fruity yeast, light green apple, basement, Palate: light medium body, average carbonation, thin texture due to alcohol, decent warming. Taste: sweet fruity yeast into caramel malt with fruity undertones lasting. Very unique and lovely balance. Really a good beer.

Really nice quadrupel with a gentle taste of banana, hunny and some sweet candy that comes forward after a while. Beutiful colour!

Draft. Crystal clear dark amber body with off-white head. Aroma is moderately sweet, honeydew, herbal, light butter. Taste is moderately sweet, herbal, caramel, some honey, light alcohol. Medium-full body, some stickiness, light acidity

Amber with medium off-white head. Sweet-sour honey aroma, same for taste. A biite note follows and remains on the tongue root, while the sweetness remains on its first half.

A nice toffee, fairy floss smell in which you can smell the alcohol. This slightly rusty banana taste like a tripel with a bit of an alcohol burn on the back of your tongue, probably shouldn’t be sold in a 6 pack! I really like it. But it must be noted that Leffe blonde is my favorite beer, and i love a good blonde or tripel. I would buy this again.

Bottle: Amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is quite alcoholic, caramelic, plums, some roastiness. Flavor is malty, caramelic, roasty, toffee, dark fruits, spices (cinnamon), some alcohol.
