Gulden Draak, lonely at the top for 25 years, now gets company
The birthday present: Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple, an enrichment of the Gulden Draak range.
An ode to the past and to the city of (9000) GHENT The Gulden Draak is named after the gilded statue on top of the belltower of Ghent. Such eminent symbol, that has been standing firm for over 6 centuries, deserves equally grand beers. The unsurpassed Gulden Draak as dark tripel of 10,5% alcohol gets, after 25 years of growing success, quite an addition, the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple.

All features of the Gulden Draak The extremely rich and complex taste sensation and the stable beer head can also be found in the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple. The sweet caramel touches, however, are still reserved for the Gulden Draak.

With addition of extra malt The new recipe, on basis of 3 different kinds of malt added in a volume of 4 times the content in lager, provide the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple with a deep golden amber colour and a fruity scent. Together with the smooth and subtle sweet taste ensures this a wonderfully accomplished bouquet.

In line with the traditions of Brewery Van Steenberge Just like the other specialty beers of Brewery Van Steenberge is the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple a beer of high fermentation with secondary fermentation. A wine yeast is used for the secondary fermentation, which also contributes to the grandiose taste.

Bottle 0.33 l, Piwnica, Wrocław, Poland.
Ciemnobursztynowe, wpadające w miedź, mętnawe piwo o obfitej i puszystej pianie oraz przyjemnym, słodowym, owocowym i winnym aromacie. W smaku gęste, rozgrzewające, początkowo słodkawe i owocowe, następnie winne z lekko wytrawnym i łagodnie goryczkowym finiszem. Mocno rozgrzewające gardło i przyjemnie drapiące w przełyk.

AgentAle (1846) - Fort Mcmurray, Alberta, CANADA - APR 15, 2015
Aroma is Belgian candy sugar, plum, toffee, apple, slight pineapple. Nice wild yeast tones. Taste is nice sweet and mellow crystal malts consumed quickly by a fabulous array of dark fruits and wild yeast. A very subtle but pleasant hopiness is there to deliver a perfect among of bitterness without spoiling the beautiful experience. Appearance is a hazy orange with a thin lace head that retains fairly well.

0,33 liter bottle. Amber coloured with nice white head. Taste is alcohol, bitter, raisin sweet, and hoppy. Interesting in the carbonation. Another great beer from the gulden draak!

Beerathon (1680) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 12, 2015
Dark amber pour with big fluffy white head. Belgian yeast, raisin, candied sugar, booze, a spiced banana type aroma, a bit of ginger, almost a butterscotch type sweetness, but not cloying. The taste is authentic.

Mr_Pink_152 (5749) - Lincoln, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2015
Bottle from Real Ale store, Newark. Slightly hazy deep Amber gold colour with a thin tan head that lasted. Aroma is fruity caramel, slight nutty and yeast. The taste has a decent balance that isn’t too sweet.

bartzluke (598) - Oklahoma, USA - APR 10, 2015
33 cl room temp pour into Spiegelau IPA glass (best glass that was around). Crazy carbonated-- beer exploded all over the counter. Huge head-- like marshmallow fluff. Notable lacing light brown, dark golden color. Looks great in this glass. Mostly clear. Nose is malt, yeast, pinecone (?), caramel. Mouthfeel is fairly full and creamy. Taste is complex. Notable booze. Decent malts, caramel, scotch, a subtle dark fruit, and a bit of candy sweetness.
