Gulden Draak, lonely at the top for 25 years, now gets company
The birthday present: Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple, an enrichment of the Gulden Draak range.
An ode to the past and to the city of (9000) GHENT The Gulden Draak is named after the gilded statue on top of the belltower of Ghent. Such eminent symbol, that has been standing firm for over 6 centuries, deserves equally grand beers. The unsurpassed Gulden Draak as dark tripel of 10,5% alcohol gets, after 25 years of growing success, quite an addition, the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple.

All features of the Gulden Draak The extremely rich and complex taste sensation and the stable beer head can also be found in the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple. The sweet caramel touches, however, are still reserved for the Gulden Draak.

With addition of extra malt The new recipe, on basis of 3 different kinds of malt added in a volume of 4 times the content in lager, provide the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple with a deep golden amber colour and a fruity scent. Together with the smooth and subtle sweet taste ensures this a wonderfully accomplished bouquet.

In line with the traditions of Brewery Van Steenberge Just like the other specialty beers of Brewery Van Steenberge is the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple a beer of high fermentation with secondary fermentation. A wine yeast is used for the secondary fermentation, which also contributes to the grandiose taste.

Pours an orange with white head. Aroma of sugared berries. This beer is so sweet it puts wooly socks on my teeth. Taste is sweet caramel, more berries, biscuits, bread. So bubbly feels like champagne. A little is great, but too much and I think my blood sugar levels will be blasting through the roof.

Bottle 0.33l. Cloudy, amber colored. AROMA- apple must, caramel, raisins, dates, touch of alcohol. FLAVOR- fairly sweet, strong alcohol presence, caramel, raisins. Full bodied.
Sweet and caramelly. Average Belgian ale.

Gulden Draak 9000 pours a hazy copper color with a long-lasting and frothy beige head that leaves decent lacing behind. The aroma, which is more muted than expected, has notes of honey, pear, caramel, and molasses. The brew is much more flavorful than it smells, with a sweet attack of caramel, toffee, cereal, cream, and sugar, followed by a complex, full-bodied, and creamy mid-palate of pear, baked apple, molasses, plum, and hints of citrus and banana. The subsequent finish is gently bitter, peppery, and soothingly warming. Great stuff.

Acquired in a four pack of 11.2 oz bottles at Total Wine in Plano, thank you very much. Tilting a bottle into my favorite Belgian chalice I am greeted by an interesting orange-red body accompanied by a lingering skim of white bubbles. Lifting for a smell I take in peach, hard candy and some yeastiness. Now for a taste. Oh my. I am pleased there are three more for later. Red cherry, apricot, grain as some balance. A touch of sweetness on the front end and a hint of bitterness finishing. I continue my appreciation of quadrupels.

Bottle from Lidl. Bit hazy amber with massive head. Aroma of berries and alcohol and yeast. It’s sweet. Oh God it’s SWEET. Almost like a mead. I really don’t want to have hangover of this.

Brzoskwinia, morela, trochę ziół, przypraw, cukru kandyzowanego. Rozgrzewający alkohol. Średnio treściwe, półsłodkie, wysoko wysycone, z niską goryczką.

Kuparin värinen lasissa. Aluksi tuoksussa on metallisuutta, mikä tuntuu oudolta.

Bottle shared by Tmoney99 from notes. Pours a dark golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have some sweet malts, Belgian yeast, wood, mild barrel notes on the nose with some vinous character on the flavor, some spices, dark fruit with some signs of the alcohol.
