Gulden Draak, lonely at the top for 25 years, now gets company
The birthday present: Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple, an enrichment of the Gulden Draak range.
An ode to the past and to the city of (9000) GHENT The Gulden Draak is named after the gilded statue on top of the belltower of Ghent. Such eminent symbol, that has been standing firm for over 6 centuries, deserves equally grand beers. The unsurpassed Gulden Draak as dark tripel of 10,5% alcohol gets, after 25 years of growing success, quite an addition, the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple.

All features of the Gulden Draak The extremely rich and complex taste sensation and the stable beer head can also be found in the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple. The sweet caramel touches, however, are still reserved for the Gulden Draak.

With addition of extra malt The new recipe, on basis of 3 different kinds of malt added in a volume of 4 times the content in lager, provide the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple with a deep golden amber colour and a fruity scent. Together with the smooth and subtle sweet taste ensures this a wonderfully accomplished bouquet.

In line with the traditions of Brewery Van Steenberge Just like the other specialty beers of Brewery Van Steenberge is the Gulden Draak 9000 Quadruple a beer of high fermentation with secondary fermentation. A wine yeast is used for the secondary fermentation, which also contributes to the grandiose taste.

25.4 oz bottle. Clear honey with a clumpy off-white head. Nose is candi, dates, straw and marzipan; lovely. Sticky and syrupy? Sure, but silky smooth with a lively tingle, alcohol well concealed. Taste is dried apricot, apple, toffee and grain. A sophisticated sipper.

Bottle shared by Tmoney99 from notes. Pours a dark golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have some sweet malts, Belgian yeast, wood, mild barrel notes on the nose with some vinous character on the flavor, some spices, dark fruit with some signs of the alcohol.

Bottiglia da 0,33. Schiuma abbondantissima e persistentissima. Colore vermiglio opalescente. Carbonatura adeguata leggermente abbondante. Aroma di ciliege, amarene e banana. Gusto rotondo e dolciastro. Finale lungo ma delicato. Gradazione rilevante. Gran Quadruple Consiglio 10/10

Kleurplaatje (208) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 11, 2017
Pours dark orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is malty, toasted... Yeast and caramels, slight dark fruits... Flavor is sticky sweet with a clear alcohol burn. Burnt sugar notes, clear yeast, caramels, ripe fruits, something spicy... Finish is sweet and liquor-like (alcohol...) Medium bodied, thick, sticky texture, lively carbonated. It sure is a good brew, but the liquor-like alcohol sting is quite disturbing, odd and to a minor extent somewhat unpleasant as well.

Odličan, al za koplje lošiji od "orginala.".................,,..........

On tap. Pours a clear amber-orange with a small, frothy, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, dried fruit and yeast. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, dried fruit, light spice and yeast with a warming booze finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Very tasty.

From 33cl bottle. Pours intense amber, with abundant white foam, irregular. Aroma is intense of caramel and malt. Body is dense with good carbonation. Taste is intensely sweet, with only underlying bitterness. Finish is rather long and sweet.

Kolor brazowawy, metnawy. Niezły w smaku, ale za bardzo czuć alkohol. Niezłe piwo, ale nie nazwałbym quadruplem.

Bottle from Cafe Bruxelles, Leicester. Orange/gold, with a swirl of white head. Caramel, clementine, banana, hazelnut, brandy. Taste is sweet and alcohol-laden with a spicy happiness holding it in balance. Long sweet finish with apricot syrup and light sweet spices. Thick body, heavily carbonated. This is really, really good. Boozy but not overpowering, sweet without being cloying. Love it.

Luneylane (193) - Taipei City, TAIWAN - JUN 29, 2017
A bottle from Muzha Jason’s, drunk at home. Aroma: beef extract, oxtail soup. Appearance: reddish-brown, minimal tan head. Palate: medium-bodied and thick, soft carbonation, sweet finish. Taste: medium sweet; unbalanced, need more bitterness. How is this different from regular Gulden Draak? I can’t taste the difference.

Nurmis (687) - Oulu, FINLAND - JUN 21, 2017
Bottle, 33cl. Pours hazy, bit reddish amber. Huge white head. Yeast, caramel, apricot, bit of spices. Bit boozy.
