COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Pours and amber color with a root beer float type head... a welcome change from most belgians... sweet and carbonated, however, feels like something is missing... a good high quality beer. Finishes smooth and easy but needs sometjing to put it in the upper echelon

Bottle. Pours amber/dark brown with white head. Aroma quite heavy, rich, malty. Fruity esters like rasins, figs, with caramel and some winey alcohol notes. Taste is heavy, sweet, dried fruits, some caramel and well hidden alcohol. High carbonated. Sweet finish. Drinkability is quite good despite 10,5% alc.vol. Great.

Barwa ciemna, herbaciana. Super piwo.

Bottle from Lidl. Intense Belgian yeast nose, sweet and spicy. Taste is very sweet, not very malty, barley sugar. Palate is soft and easy. Dangerously drinkable and deceptively strong

Spicy yeast aroma. Dark brown with fluffy head. Big carbonation, malty, sweet brown sugar, banana bread, sticky mouthfeel. Filling and satisfying. Really good.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2016 Bottle @ pressklubben. Dark brown with a large foamy off-white head. Really nice caramel aroma. Really good stuff! Well balanced taste with a big sweetness.

Butelka. Piwo barwy miedzianej z drobniutką pianką koloru ecru. Utrzymuje się dość wysoka dzięki pracującemu intensywnie nagazowaniu (piwo stało u mnie ponad rok i trochę wychodziło z butelki). Prezencja znakomita. Takie belgi to ja lubię!

Aroma: caramel, somewhat floral hops, dough, banana-like yeast, toffee and a litte roasted malt ; Appearance: amber, brown, cloudy, tan foam that forms a medium head ; Taste: medium sweetness, lightly sour, I think also umami, but not fully sure ; Palate: full body, slick feel, average carbonation, short-ish finish. One of my favorites. But very hard to fully describe.

Quite a strong tasting beer. Dark and smooth with a nice taste but a strong alcohol aftertaste. Not an easy drink but a good beer.
