COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gulden Draak is a high fermentation beer with secondary fermentation. For the secondary fermentation, wine yeast is used. The white bottle, the black banner, the golden dragon and the red letters, constitute a stylish result that has no equal among the many Belgian special beers. Gulden Draak can be drunk as an aperitif or dessert, or whenever you have the time to sit back and relax. But this barley wine is also perfect with and in stews, especially the Ghent variety. It is also a plus in sauces for red meat, such as a bordelaise. It is particularly suited as a dessert beer, especially in combination with dark chocolate.

Dont remember much from this beer except that it is a pretty nice tripel-like and that it has lively carbo.

Strong toffee, caramel malt aroma with some dark sweet fruit. Nice whitish tan head and deep apricot brown color with a few chunks of yeast and other wonderful objects. Starts with thick sweet fruit, ends with some dusty fruit and hop. The middle seems to be missing. Well enough balanced that the alcohol is not bothersome. A bit of cooked plum persists with the bitterness. Good way to end an evening.

Bottle - Rich malts and yeas, with a honey and raisin like sweetness. Frothy off white head and an amber hue. Dark fruits, brown sugar and yeast dominate with a bit of alcohol. Fairly sweet with no bitterness, a specialty beer for sure that is very strong and heavy.

Scopey (13311) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 27, 2013
Tap at Staminee de Garre, Brugge. It pours deep ruby-brown with a medium beige head. The nose is earth, brown bread, fruit cake, rhubarb & custard boiled sweets, light spice and metal. The taste is caramel, dark fruit, brown sugar, fruit cake, light spice, toast, raisin and a some alcohol warmth with a smooth, bitter-sweet finish. Not a whole lot of depth, but it is tasty and rather well-balanced.
