Malty-smooth beginning. Hints of grain, smooth fresh with a malty sweetness. Round, nice yeasty, but a bit grainy. Round and nice.

Smooth-fresh, malty. Slightly bitter in the mainpart. Fruity, easy to drink but not too deep. Sweetish-sticky, nice. Caramel, plums.

The beer looks very nice. The beer is clear and has a reddish brown glow. The color is a beautiful ruby red. The beer is lighter than most bock beers. The beer forms quite a little bit of rough foam. The little bit of foam that does form has an almond color. The foam disappears quickly and a very small amount of rough foam remains on top of the beer. Its a pity the foam isnt thick and creamy. The smell is nice, but quite mild. I smell a little fresh hoppy note. I also smell some delicious sweet caramel aromas. This forms a very good contrast with the little hoppyness. There is also a little toasty aroma. The taste has the same nice flavors. I taste a little roast flavor, together with caramel. There is also a minimal chocolate hint. The beer has a nice fresh hoppy note. This is a beautiful contrast with the dark autumn flavors. The beer has a nice alcohol taste als wel. Its a delicious bock beer.

The beer has a beautiful color. The color is a combination between ruby red and dark brown. It is beautiful. The beer pours a nice layer of almond colored foam. The most of the foam collapses and a thin foam drape remains. I miss a thick creamy foam layer, more beer should have that. The smell of the beer is quite mild. I smell a tiny bit of metal. Besides I smell a delicious sweet fall like aroma. There is caramel, golden syrup, a little licorice. There are all these nice dark aromas. The smells are very good for an autumn beer. There is also some fruit in the smell and a refreshing hop aroma. The taste is very nice. The beer has a decent bitterness. I taste a nice amount of alcohol. The beer gives a warming sensation in the mouth. There is a little bit of fresh hops on the background. There is also caramel and syrup in the taste. This beer definitely is one of the better bok beers around. It is perfect for the autumn.

Bottle courtesy of Deanso. Poured a clear medium to light brown with a a thin broken, off white head. The aroma is rotten vegetables. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet with a woody, hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium to light bodied with average carbonation.

Bottle 30 cl from Lidl. Abbey beer from Gulpener. In comparison with Gulpener it has a very roasted taste. A bit sweeter than Gulpener but not too sweet. The 6.5% alcohol is not too much, which I like. Decent Abbey beer.
Earlier Rating: 10/6/2015 Total Score: 3.9
Sixpack gekocht bij DirckIII. Ondergistend. Dit bier smaakt zacht en is niet te zoet. De alcohol is goed verborgen. De smaak is uitstekend in balans. Dit is wel het beste bockbier van dit seizoen.

Koelschtrinker (18349) - Kln (Cologne), GERMANY - OCT 3, 2015
Deutlich s malziger Antrunk, rstig. Die Karamelligkeit wirkt knstlich, trocken. Sffig, nett. 9/10/9/8/9/9
Earlier Rating: 5/23/2011 Total Score: 3.1
Isngesamt gut. 8/9/10/9/10/9

33cl bottle at home. Pours a clear dark brown with a decent head. Aromas of caramel, fruit like strawberry. Taste is sweet and a bit irony with notes of caramel and something fruity. Medium body with not too lively but decent carbonation.
