On tap at In de Wildeman, Amsterdam on 15th March 2018. Hazy gold with shallow white foam and scant lacing. Fresh and nutty yeast aroma. Citrus fruits in-mouth with fresh doughy yeastiness. A lingering nutty and citrus finish. Zingy mouthfeel and a fair amount of body.

Tap. Milky pale yellow color with creamy white head. Aroma is herbal, wheat, spicy yeasts, sweet bubblegum. Taste is milky, bubblegum, herbal, elderflower indeed, not so much spelt noticeable for me. Milky mouthfeel with low carbonation. Fun!

At Taverne De Grenssteen, Vaals. Shared with Anke.
Pours clear yellow with a foamy, white head. The aroma contains wheat, orange & mandarin, citrus, some spices and white bread. It tastes light fruity sour and light to medium spicy bitter; short finish. Light body, watery texture, soft to flat carbonation. Decent aroma for a standard Witbier; taste is gone too quickly; palate is bad.

Piepenhenrich (1328) - Steinbach, GERMANY - OCT 28, 2017
From bottle. Pours opaque orange-golden with almost no head. Low carbonation. Somewhat stuck in the middle between a Belgian Witbier and a German Weizen but lacking the benefits these have to offer. Taste of wheat and some fruit, not that bad, but after all rather mediocre.

From tap at café Lust (with M). Cloudy golden color, good aroma, fine taste, nice and sweet.

Grumbo (4732) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - AUG 17, 2017
Can, trade with Gabriel. Pours slightly hazy pale gold with a short lasting frothy white head. Aroma of wheat, sweet malt, fruit and flowers. Heavy sweetness, light bitterness, touch of sour. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation. Finish is sweet.

I love this brewery for their subtle and authentic beers, and with Korenwolf, Gulpener fails to dissapoint once again. While they are a macro-brewery, they aren’t truly macro in the derogatory sense of the word, and this brewery actually brews beers other than your average water-flavoured lager. In my eyes, their repertoire hangs somewhere in between the macro and craft-beer worlds. Not as sophisticated as a lot of pricy micro-brews, yet definitely a step up from the mayor players on the Dutch market. The Korenwolf, too, fails to lower my high-regard of our Limburgian brethren. A pale and hazy ale, its clear white head dissipates quickly into a solid ring around the glass. The aroma is predominantly flowery, with a German Weiss-like banana and clove aroma. Also some sweetness lingering in the back of the nose. Taste is much the same; flowery, banana and clove, a tad of lemon. A slight sour and only the faintest touch of sweetness. Very thirst-quenching as befits a Witbier. Aftertaste is satisfactory: malty, grainy, with the lemon lingering in the back of the throat. On a hot summer day this a perfect beer to quench your thirst. Excellent Witbier.

From tap. Pours yellow to orange colored with white head. Wheat taste, not really spicy. It’s OK, but could be better.

Yellow coloured ale with a thick slightly off white head. Aroma: bready, yeasty and some lemon. Taste: wheat, yeast, lemon, slight sourness, some spiciness and some luncheon meat.
