I like oud bruins. In particular the oud part. The ageing in wooden barrels or vats. That I love. And there’s none of that here. It’s nicely dark, and has a gentle malty sweetness to its aroma. But there it ends. Once in the mouth, it’s just a bland sweet malt drink. That’s it. Malta. I was going to ask for a change of style to Flemish red, but fick it, this beer isn’t worth the effort.
Backlog rating, dark Brown pour with a tanned head, sweet caramel malts, sweet burned caramel, sugar, not Nice to drink this pure. They use this here to blend with pilsener Alengrin (5438) - BELGIUM - AUG 18, 2014
Typical Dutch oud bruin, so a brown table beer that has nothing to do with what is called ’oud bruin’ in Belgium. Dark reddish brown colour, beige head, malty nose, caramel, chocolate, sweet taste, bit sugary as expected for the style, bit fuller and maltier than usual but inevitably thin due to the low alcohol content. ottjes (13) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 24, 2014
UPDATED: APR 10, 2014 It is a good sweet dark beer. And it is only 3,5% alcohol, so you can enjoy more bottles ;-) but it is a pity they used artifical sweetner. Overall nice beer, would buy it again. Slaz (59) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 22, 2014
Pours dark brown with a yellow-white foam head. It has some caramel tones, but the artificial sweetener taste is a bit bothersome. OK during a meal, but that’s about it.

Bottle @ home. Aroma is dusty malt, sugar and caramel. Flavour is big caramel, unfermented malt, some weird herbal liquorice something. Not as bad as expected. blackisle (2640) - Amsterdam IJburg, NETHERLANDS - DEC 1, 2013
Opaque dark brown, frothy tan head, good lacing; sweet malty nose, bread, roasted, caramel, brwon sugar, dark syrup; medium sweet, sugary, slightly bitter; light body, soft carbonation, oily to watery texture; sweet finish slightly dry, hint of cinnamon.
