Zlotta (3287) - Hagen / Düsseldorf, GERMANY - JUN 29, 2017
On tap at ’De Klep’. Clear, dark brownish red with a thin, dense, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty aroma of mainly caramel, some nuts and slightest hints of chocolate. Very sweet, malty, bready and slightly roasty taste of lots of caramel, nuts, toasted bread and Cola, followed by a short, slightly bitter, bready and a bit roasty finish. Almost medium-bodied, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice Dutch Oud Bruin, way better than Heineken for example, probably also way better than from bottle as well.

Kleur is vrij donker. Aroma: Je ruikt wat karamel, maar voornamelijk is de geur extreem zoet. Smaak is zeer makkelijk te omschrijven: Donker suikerwater.

Bottle in Valkenburg. Dark brown, beige foam. Very sweet nose, almost only caramel. Very bad.

kingstoni (2088) - FINLAND - JUL 10, 2016
Bottle. Deep amber color with a thin frothy beige head. Aroma of caramel and butter. Very sweet taste, toi much for me. Medium body.

mariuspoenari (2692) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - DEC 14, 2015
This has nothing to do with the Flanders Oud Bruin that’s brewed in Belgium, and is, in fact, quite the opposite, in terms of styles, aside, maybe, from the somewhat similar colour. Very sweet and malty (from what I understand, sweetener is added during the brewing process), with no trace of bitterness or sourness of any kind.

suurjuust (3540) - ESTONIA - SEP 11, 2015
Brown beer, beige soapy head. Nose is sweet and sugray, malt notes, grain, caramel. Flavor is sweet, dried fruit, caramel, grain and mild toast notes and oh boy is this thin.

martjoobolut (4387) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - AUG 5, 2015
Bottle (from beerExpress, Tallinn). Pours dark ruby with beige-light brown head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, grainy, malty. Flavor is very sweet, malt, fruits, grains, roast. Finish has some faint wood and dry bitterness. Body is very watery. Overall: drinkable-ish.

vipinvelp (4430) - Velp, NETHERLANDS - JUN 16, 2015
In loving memory to my MOM who always drank this style. Clear dark brown, small light brown foam head. Sweet caramle aroma and taste, although not too sweet this one. (Arnhem 201506)

Marduk (7694) - Reval, ESTONIA - MAY 25, 2015
330ml bottle. Very dark brown color. Small size, white head, stays as a ring. Buttery, caramel, sweet in aroma. Sweet, berries, some rubbery roast and some smokiness in taste. Low carbonation. Sweet rubbery rost in aftertaste. Sweet and sticky.

FatPhil (16102) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAY 23, 2015
330ml bottle (Traveller’s, Tallinn)
I like oud bruins. In particular the oud part. The ageing in wooden barrels or vats. That I love. And there’s none of that here. It’s nicely dark, and has a gentle malty sweetness to its aroma. But there it ends. Once in the mouth, it’s just a bland sweet malt drink. That’s it. Malta. I was going to ask for a change of style to Flemish red, but fick it, this beer isn’t worth the effort.
