Cask. Aroma toasted malts and floral hops but modestly. Pours amber with white top yielding lace wash. Taste medium bitter with salty finish. Carbonation is light. Palate is medium bodied and soft. I wish it were better but I am relieved it’s no worse.

Cask Rack at Rugby Tap Micropub.
Amber beer with no head.
Malty biscuits, slight hop notes, hints of caramel and toffee butterscotch, OK but nowt to shout bout.

Bottle from The Wine Cellars. Dirtied honey capped generously with white. Good succulent red apple, melon, blackcurrant and fruit salad chew aroma. Overly fizzy but with a pleasant spiced plum and Fruit Salad character emerging from beneath the carb. Blackcurrant and flowers. Well up for trying the cask version.

Gravity poured half-pint on 18th Oct 2014 at the CAMRA Oxford Beer Festival. Golden amber coloured body with a thin off-white wispy head. The aroma was mildly malty with a fruity, floral hint. Taste followed the nose closely with light malts leading the way, some nut and fruit traces which gave way to a dry and semi-bitter finish: an OK brew.

Cask conditioned at Oxford Beer festival ’14. Amber with no head. Dry, caramel bitter, thinnish, dog biscuits then a leafy hop note to fill out the palate a little. Ends better than it begins.

Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 27/11/2012. Amber with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of hedgerow fruits, slightly earthy malts and a touch of leafy hop. Easy drinking, with solid, cereal malts, some more fruit and a decent, bitter finish. Fine.

Cask conditioned handpump Rowell Charter Rothwell 06/11/12. An amber coloured beer with a white bubbly head. A bit of crunchy malt in the nose with a touch of fruity hop. Nice bittersweet balance in the mouth with a lick of citrus from the hops. Competently done.
