COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
All light vanishes here. The pitch-black color and cocoa-espresso aroma and flavor are derived from roasted barley while the complexity is enhanced by the strength of this foreign-style stout.

16 oz can poured, generously sent over by Now. Thanks! Very fun try here. Always great to ty a top 50 too. Jet black pour, so I suppose the name fits. A nice roasted heavy constant. Toasted malt and coffee grounds. A touch of smoke. Big roasted lingering character. A nice sipper of a stout here. Good stuff.

Can in Seattle. Thanks Andrew. Small ring of tan, coffee head. Dark, heavy brown black body. Nice rich nose of soy, coffee, and bitter roast grain. Dark barley, burnt caramel, moderate weight body. Well balanced. Snappy, balanced clean bitter finish. Pretty delicious. Nice.

[9676-20171020] Cask. Roasted green peppers and woody charcoal and roasted grains aroma. Black body with a medium-lasting foamy light brown head. Roasted green pepper and lightly smoked boozy grains flavour. Full body. Interesting. (7/3+/7+/3/15) 3.5

2017-10-20. Black body, small tan head. 3++ Aroma is very dry, coffee like roast malt character. Flavour is similar mild sweet dark malt core, dry bitter roast. Average bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Decent but I find the roast character a bit much for my own tastes. 6-7/4/6-7/3/15-16 Cask Days 2017, Toronto.

Cask at Cask Days. True to its name, brown head. Huge earthy coffee grounds aroma. Taste is equally earthy coffee. Wow

Can at home. Pours super black, looks like motor oil. Looks syrupy. Aroma is black coffee, faint berry, toasted marshmallow and cocoa. Taste is light espresso, faint berry, dark chocolate in the finish. Nice taste. Thick body and mouthfeel. Solid.

Can split with my wife. Pours a deep black with a thin tan head. Big roast on the nose, cocoa, a bit of sweetness and a hint of paper. Big roast, cocoa. Medium bodied, lots of earthy roast and a soft bit of chocolate. Cocoa into the finish, a bit of warming alcohol. Tasty and warm.

On tap, Ginger Man NYC. Very dark black, not a lot of foam. Rich, not hugely bitter in the roasty sense, some spice, warming booze, a certain sweetness. Cocoa. Pretty solid stout.
