COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A black, top-fermented beer with a firm brown head and a pleasant bitterness from roasted barley and chocolate malt, and from centennial, fuggles, East Kent golding and cascade hops. The bitterness is around 60 IBU. The malt bill is pale malt, cara munich, cara crystal, chocolate and a little roasted barley. The malt leaves a residual sweetness that matches the bitterness. To complete the flavour profile, the beer is aged on roasted oak chips.

This beer deserves better ratings in my view. Chocolatey, velvety and bursting with malty goodyness, it keeps rewarding.

(50 cl bottle from Nyborg Strand Bistro; BBD: May 10th 2015) Poured into a burgundy glass reveals a pitch black body with a one finger tan head. Decent retention and lace. Aroma has notes of toffee and a hint of licorice. Oily texture, soft carbonation, medium body with a boozy, warming finish. Flavour is dark roast with a tart, ascerbic edge and alcohol astringency.

Sød, kraftig, fyldig, humlet. Meget fin porter type, som gør sig fint som selvstændig dessert - eller som tilbehør til ostebordet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Wow, this one is complex indeed. The aroma is bad, like sour milk - definitely doesn’t make you want to taste it. Nevertheless, as you get through it, you’ll find that it’s an excellent imperial stout. It’s definitely bitter and really hard to decribe, if you get the chance, pick this up, it’s not for everyone, but the complexity alone, is enough reason to try it.

JanLaursen (3227) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - SEP 6, 2012
Bottle at Hotel Svendborg. Clear redbrownish with a small but stable beige head. Massive aroma of hard roasted malts, licorice, choco, vanilla and oak. Bittersweet, roasted flavor with a mild oaky touch, grapefruity notes and some licorice. A lactic hint in the finish. Solid body, soft carbonation.

50 cl bottle. BBE 01.11.12, rated on 04.09.2012
Aroma has chocolate, licorice and coffee. Flavour is somewhat tart with berries, slightly salty licorice and lots of coffee in the aftertaste. Quite thin for an Imperial Stout.

500 ml bottle. Thanks Timo A.
Pours a dark brown colour with a beigeish head. Aroma of roasted malts, syrup, nuts and chocolate. Flavour of roasted malts, chocolate, salty licorice, some vanilla, nuts, harsh bitterness and some berries. Medium bodied, rough mouthfeel and a rough, malty, bitter finish. Good.
