Gusswerk Blabk Betty is Salzburg’s dark beer beauty. From Salzburg Alps, this is an organic beer which is black as night, with herbs that found their use as early as prehistoric times. A special beer with the taste of wormwood, ground ivy, ground elder and meadowsweet. Black Betty - there is nothing like it! 12.8°

Ingredients: water, organic barley malt, organic wormwood, organic ground ivy, organic ground elder, organic meadowsweet, organic hops, yeast.

0,33l Flasche "Green Betty". Klare Kastanienfarbe, wenig Schaum. In der Nase etwas Kräuter und Lakritz. Der Geschmack enttäuscht. Verbrannter Karamel und Lakritz. Wo sind die ganzen Kräuter??

The beer sure is black. On the naked eye the beer is very dark. Strong light reveals a rather light ruby glow. The beer is quite cloudy. On top of the beer some rough off-white foam is formed. The most of the foam collapses quickly, leaving next to nothing. The smell is a bit mild. I wish it was a bit stronger. What I smell is nice though. I smell a nice herbal beer. I mell some rather sweet malts, together with some aroma’s of caramel. On top of this, there are some bitter roast touches. I also smell bitter and slightly acidic fresh hops and nice herbal aroma. It reminds me of other traditional herbal beers, such as Jopen Koyt. It is nice, but you need to love it. The taste is the same. It is nice, but to mild. It misses kick. There are nice sweet and roasty bitter malts, bitter and slightly sour hops, nice herbs and a wood-like flavour. Everything pairs perfectly and is well balanced, but the overall flavour is to weak. A missed chance. I wish it was stronger, that would make it a lot better. The palate is fine. The body of the beer is a bit to light. The beer is smooth, a bit creamy even. Carbonation is medium. The finish contains some nice herbal flavours and ends in a rather dry bitterness. All in all, a very nice beer, that needs a bit more flavour. The flavour and smell are nice, just to mild.

33cl bottle. Dark brown with a small lightly tan head. Malty, mineral and light licorice in the aroma. Light body. Taste is sweet with spices and licorice notes. Overall, drinkable.

peponi (2103) - Strzelce Wielkie, POLAND - NOV 10, 2016
Aroma: black malts. Appearance: black color and almost no head. Taste: medium herbal bitterness, roasted dark malts, herbs, rather dry. Palate: low body and medium herbal bitterness. Overall: Really average, taste like a bad schwarzbier.
