Bottle. Pours dark amber with a Mahagoni hui and a small head. Malty nose with caramel and bready notes, aroma of red fruits and plum. Light to medium sweet taste that gets bitter in the end. Thick oily body with low carbonation and smooth mouthfeel and some alcoholic warmth. Spicy flavor with weedy grassy notes, some caramel and toffee, some pepper and an undefinable spiciness. Leaves a medium strong aftertaste with spicy grassy notes.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’ place. Thanks Stas. Headless hazy brown. Dried fruit, molasses and candy in the nose, sweet and candy in the mouth. Medium body, candy finish and soft fizz.

Dark red coloured beer with a small, brownish, short-lasting head. Aromas of toffee, caramel, plums, natural and fresh herbal undertones, dark cake, light alcohol, dash of lemon juice. Roasted malt and fruitiness in taste, bit waterish. Toffee and sth. what the goat weed could be in finish, dry overall. Less sweet than i expected. Medium body, soft carbonation, sticky texture. Too much alcohol for too few aromas, in my opinion, nothing to enhance here.

How great is this, local bar Why not @Dudelange serving craft beers. Very nice bottle with an artwork reminding me of seventies hardrock covers... First sip caramel, toffees, red fruits some alcohol shines through but overall it’s a really nice beer.

Alengrin (5629) - BELGIUM - NOV 29, 2015
Somewhat idiosyncratic Austrian beer with irregular, loosely structured, light beige head and hazy bronze colour with amber hue. Aroma of toasted bread, overripe plums, flowers, some banana, redcurrant, dates, freshly fermented farmland. Estery, fruity, sweetish onset (fig, raisin) with soft sourish edge, some dried banana, fluffy mouthfeel, smooth caramelly malt sweetness becoming a bit toasted in the end paired with mild herbal hop bitterishness, some powdery yeastiness and a spicy flavour which I assume comes from the Epimedium plant apparently used in this. The alcohol provides a bit of warmth but I would never have guessed this is a 9%+ beer. Nor would I have guessed this is made in Austria, this feels a lot like a spiced Belgian winter ale...

Thanks Mladen! Shared with the others. Dark amber-red body with an off white small head. Malty, caramelly, raisiny aroma, nice enough. Taste... yeah, caramell, herbal notes, nutty, nicely grainy. Dry finish. Well, definitely good for the strength/style. Couldn’t sense that herb but still... maybe it would’ve been more effective if I drank the entire bottle. :D Couldn’t find any flaws with it and the ABV is very well hidden.

(Gusswerk Horny Betty) Bottle 330 ml from a trade with Beerhunter111,thanks! Served into a tulip, ABV 9.2% Deep red to chestnut brown colour on the body, clear, with almost two full fingers of thick, light beige head on top. Average retention. Aroma of caramel, light toffee, herbs, old wood. Taste is herbal, malts, caramel, well hidden alcohol. Medium thin body, carbonation on the low side. Drinks okay, nothing I’ll remember for long though.
