COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Gusswerk Nicobar IPA is inspired by the journeys of Austrian ships sailing from Trieste to the Nicobar Islands. They were carrying a special brew destined for the only Austrian colony in the Indian Ocean, established in the reign of Her Majesty Empress Maria Theresia of Austria. Ingredients: water, organic barley malt, organic hops (Hallertau Tradition, Simcoe, Citra, Cascade), yeast.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, copper to deep amber colour with a medium-sized tanned foamy head. Bready toast-malty aroma with caramel, peppery spice and delicately fruity hoppy notes. Bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied with a calm carbonation. Hearty toasted malt character with notes of bread crusts, caramel on a delicately fruity hoppy background; bitter-sweet toasty malty finish with a rising hops profile towards the aftertaste, containing mildly fruity and spicy notes. Heavily malty IPA, reminding me more of a dark Bock, nevertheless a likeable brew. 20.X.12

330 ml bottle. Pours orange amber with a white head. Fruity hoppy aroma (pomelo) with herbal notes along with lightly roasted malt. Medium body with a soft to medium body. Light sweetness with a medium bitterness that is well balanced. Good backbone of lightly roasted malt in front of flavors of ripe tropical fruits (mango, papaya, banana).

Pours a hazy amber with a golden hue and a small white head. Aroma of caramel malts, pine, more caramel malts, pineapple, passion fruit, hay. Lightly sweet with only light to medium bitterness. Slick medium body with medium carbonation and a light bittersweet finish.
Pretty nice, but too heavy on the caramel malt aroma - could by a bit more dry. Still a pretty decent beer.

Bottle from World Beer Market (Sake no Taniguchi). Nose of caramel, overripe fruit, and candy. Hazy copper/orange color, with a fat, frothy head. Caramel, overripe stone fruit, and a moderately bitter finish. Thin-medium body. Doesnt really seem to be an IPA.

Blueshawk (451) - Bad Bellingen, GERMANY - SEP 3, 2016

Colour: Dark amber, hazy. Big, frothy beige head. *** Nose: Citrus and pinewood, with sweetish malts in the background (as indicated by colour!). *** Mouthfeel: Medium to heavy, still a bit watery. Soft carbonation. *** Taste: Modest tropical fruit but strong pine and slightly sweetish caramel notes at the start. Bitter and slightly sour - and increasingly so towards the middle, where pine and resin are dominant. Resin is strong in the finish and aftertaste, with a mild lemony note on top. Caramel still there. *** Impressions: A powerful IPA with uncommon caramel notes, but still the "usual suspects" (citrus, pine, resin) are there, too. Alcohol is noticeable but not unobtrusive. A complex and satisfying beer, not a refreshing one!

Bottle @ IPA Bar, Berlin - DE. Color: clear golden blond beer with small carbonation and medium white foam. Smell: floral and grassy hops, sweet malt finish. Taste: medium body with good caramel malt structure, balanced with grassy hops and resin notes. Good attenuation, quiet drinkable. Aftertaste: wet bitterness, caramel and resin.
