bottle. lightly hazed yellow body with a fine white head. strong bubble gum and estery banana nose similar to a typical weisse, but it’s very light bodied and lean, even a tad watery. sweet creamed banana, wheat and yeast flavor. moderately minerallic and especially doughy late, but it’s very quaffable and seems well-made. Head is initially large, frothy, white, fully lasting.
Body is hazy light to medium yellow, unfiltered.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of banana, gum, light notes of pepper, clove.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Light body, velvety/watery texture, lively carbonation.

Fresh bottle consumed in Dec. 2012: Slightly hazed golden amber. Thick, well-packed white foam. Pleasant nose of mint, sugar cookie, pineapple, floral hops, toasty piecrust, and a hint of spice cake and phenols. Some husky grain pokes through, as well. Stiff carbonation. Light bodied. Somewhat grainy and husky initially, with notes of hay and burnt wood amplified by a plasticlike phenolic surge. Ensuing kiss of slick melon and floral Hallertau cleanses the palate and softens the firm body. A welcomed vibrant banana suppleness bolsters the center, though some unripe melony acids arise and displace some of the estery ripeness. Dabs of gum and clovey dryness precede bright floral hops and pineapple in the clean finish. Fritz Gutmann excels at making quality weizenbier, and I’m pleased that even this seemingly built-for-swilling example ends up being perfectly serviceable. It’s unclear, light-golden with a creamy, white head. The aroma has notes of wheat, light yeast and wheat. The sweet flavour has notes of light yeast, banana and wheat, and the finish is slightly spicy. Schöner feinporiger Schaum auf einem schönen Weizen. Der Antrunk ist säuerlich-mild, schön frisch mit einer etwas muffigen Herbe, die zum Hauptteil hin etwas deutlicher wird. Der Hauptteil an sich ist mild-würzig-süffig, leicht hefig mit einer etwas muffigen Herbe. Etwas leicht, aber nicht sofort als leichtes Weizen zu erkennen. Schön vollmundig-mild. Auf der Zunge bleibt eine mild-herbe und fein-hefige Note mit angenehmer Süße lange erhalten.

bottle, Schlosshof Wolnzach. Cloudy amber-yellow colour, large head. Yeasty-wheaty-malty, light-bodied. Shy flavours, but quite good for a low alcohol beer.
