500ml bottle. Pours a clear dark amber, much more like an ESB or amber ale in colour than a cider, with fine trailing bubbles. The aroma is quite weighty, with notes of wood smoke, worn leather, apple skin and dry earth, suggesting a pretty serious cider indeed. Its flavour does not disappoint. Initial tart apple and citrus notes give way to a warming smokiness, which in turn is replaced by a full-bodied apple skin and leather flavour. A long, lingering finish offers some sweeter apple fruit, balanced with smoked meat and bacon. A serious, complex, top-notch cider. Comparing this to the sort of sweet commercial cider available en masse at the moment would be akin to comparing Chateau Latour to wine from a box. This would have to be the finest English-style cider I have thus far sampled, on a par with, although very different to, top Normandy ciders.

Medium gold with a lasting fizzy head. Nice smell of sour apple balanced against the sour tinge. Sweet initial taste with a lasting sweetness and a lingering viniger. Perfectly balanced. Amazing cider.

Golden orange color with white head that goes down quickly. Aroma is semi-sweet green apples, vanilla, some oak and some funk. Taste is so much apples, rather sweet, but oak flavours including tannins bring in a great balance. Towards the end, a phenolic booze feeling kicks in and the finish is quite stingy-spicy (garlic, indeed?) and with a kick. Calm carbonation. A marvelous cider. Impressive how it can feel so full and sweet without really being sweet.

Bottle. Nice sour apple apple aroma. Very balanced taste with medium carbonation, medium dryness, some sweetness, quite fruity. Light, but very interesting. Impressive!

Bottle from ciderandmore.de .Pours clear yellow. Nose is acidic apple, but a weird boozy touch. Palate is sooo smooth, the carbonation accumulates at the tip of the tongue. Nice medium dry apple, some oak, some vanilla. Great cider, very smooth, one of the best I’ve had yet.

My Rating # 12100. From Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. Pours cloudy golden with a bubbly head. Fresh red apples with a pleasant acidicity and a hint of wood and vanilla. Dry finish. Really tasty!
