ALLOVATE (3014) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 28, 2015
The only beer available on the wonderful Golden Bay Cruiser in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam - so many of these were downed over a few days. Tasty little lager with a clean, spicy, minty and grassy hop note over soft, pale malts. Moderate bitterness; peppery with good length. Medium gold and bright with a tight, but wafer thin white head. Clean nose of malt and hop. Moderate to high carbonation and light body. A little more on show as it warms. Simple and refreshing. Good stuff! 330ml can purchased from a rest stop place between Hanoi and halong. Pours slightly hazy gold colour with thin sticky white head. Atom is grass and hay. Taste is slightly metallic, grassy and sour. Very much like a cheap Chinese lager. marcusrr (25) - London, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - JAN 22, 2013
Tasted better for being on a boat in stunning scenery, but just another middle-of-the-road rice-heavy beer. It does seem that malted rice is a poor substitute for barley malt, but barley is hard to come by round here.
