[email protected] Dark brown, muddy. Smoky nose, beechwood, with a bunch of foresty murky flavours (spices, herbs, juniper, moss), smells like a sweaty wooden sauna after use. That said, the flavours are quite intensive and lingering, and somewhat savory. Combined with a good body, it does feel lika a quality ale. Tar in finish. Lots of flavours in all directions- kind of a drink. I’m glad I tool just a glass, hard to finish.

Tap at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Colour is dark brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Smoke, tar, oil and malts. Huh huh, very hard to drink.

7.8% @ Olutravintola. A dark opaque, reddish brown, possibly brewed with cranberries? Tan head. Wow, a peat smoke aroma. I have no idea what kind of beer this is but it seems interesting. Very smokey, peat, then a kind of odd biscuity flavor. I can’t pin it down. This beer is all smoke but in a complex layer... Unique to say the least but good if you like rauchbiers. Tobacco was the flavor I couldn’t pin down! Interesting, well made but not for me. I struggled trying to finish it... Get a taster if you can, I suspect this will be a polarizing beer. I don’t get any of the special ingredients this is all smoke...

Drank on tap (10 oz) at The Farmer’s Cabinet in Philly on June 20, 2013. Black, no head. Aroma of ripe fruit and licorice, quite smoked. The taste is similar, but more juicy, good malty, smoky bitter. A strange beer for strange people (like me)!

500ml bottle. Hazy, greyish brown colour with very small, frothy, fading, off-white head. Smoky aroma, hints of dark fruit. Taste is moderately sweet, hints of dark berries, dark fruit in general, a touch of honey, juniper, cautious smoky touch. Nice.

Botella de 500ml. Vaso Shaker. Textura oleosa y paladar cremoso. Final seco y dulzón. 500ml bottle. Shaker glass. Enjoyed on mar´13. Pours very dark brown in color. Pour crown, beige in color. Leather, sugar, smoked & toasted notes to the nose. Tire & barnyard as well. Sweet cloying malt flavor & smoky flavor at first. Hints of burnt candies. Full body. Soft carbonation. Dried nut astringency & smoked malts in the midddle. Oily texture & creamy palate. Dry sweet finish.

Bottle. Somewhat hazy brown beer with a beige head. Leather and a strange not nice aroma. This was one of the nasty badest beer I ever had :-(

[email protected] Bar, Copenhagen. Amber colour with a small slightly off-white head. Aroma is fruity, floral, strong honey, smoked malts as well as some juniper. Flavour is a bit spicy, junipery, honeyish, mild smoked notes along with some berries. Pleasant mix of all the quite various ingredients...

For the life of me, I can’t understand some of the low ratings. Must be some spoiled batches out there. I thought this was solid. Aroma is a sweet tart smoke much like norwegian wood. Pours red brown (sienna?) with a frothy medium head. Taste is wonderful and complex with cherries, smoke, cranberries, smoke, spice, smoke, and toffee. Very thick feeling and a lovely brew. I was impressed.

Draft at Farmers Cabinet during a Philly Beer Week event. Never saw this one before. Similar to several of the other dark smoky funky sours Haandbryggeriet produces. This one is especially ascetic. Plastic. Band Aid. Very cloudy brown pour with a thick lasting tan foam.
