ClubGonzo (5685) - Bergen, NORWAY - NOV 4, 2012
Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a dark brown, near-black body with a tiny off-white sheet of bubbles on top. Aroma is strong and pretty amazing: deep forest-like herbal spice notes, mild smoke and intense honey and floral heather tones with hints of wood and red berries. Very, very pleasant. Taste follows suit, with juniper and honey leading the way through deep smokey malt tones, bitter piney hops and near-astringent heather-herbal notes in the finish. Warming syrupy alcohol notes and hints of wood, raisins and dark, dried berries. High in taste but still rather drinkable and the originality of this brew is just amazing; never had anything like it. A winning team-up from Haandbryggeriet and Närke for sure, and a delicious winter seasonal treat.

Aunque tenía muy buen aspecto tenía un sabor rarillo y no me hizo mucha gracia. La miel, los arándanos y el enebro no los encontré.

Sample @ SMÖF 2012. Pours hazy dark blackish brown with a small bubbly beige head that slowly dissipates while leaving a small trace on the glass. Smell is sweet, tiny sour and malty with dark bread, peat, smoked grains, rubber, lemon zest, asphalt, tropical fruit hard candy, urine and charred wood. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter and sour with dark bread, charred wood, smoke, prunes, raisins, manure, lemon zest, raw latex, barnyard and prune juice. Mouthfeel is tart, astringent and medium bodied. Finish is sour and tiny bitter with dark bread, urinal blocks, lemon zest, charred wood, peat and smoke. Rather vile... kinda hope this is unintentionally infected.

Draught at SMÖF 2012. Dark brown, medium beige head. Pungent barnyard smokey aromas with a clear touch of urine. Sweet and slightly acidic. Nasty stuff.

On tap @ BBF 2012. Dark brown with a small tan head. Sweet with malt notes. Malt, fruit, sweetness and honey. Medium body with a sour / bitter finish. Bad experiment ?

Cloudy copper with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of honey and citrus with a herbal note. Sweet malty flavour with fruit, honey and a touch of smoke. A bit cloying.

Bottle. Virtually no head. Body is cloudy dark brown, unfiltered. Aroma is moderately malty (molasses, caramel), with strong notes of peat smoke / Islay malt Scotch and incense, lighter note of manure. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, soft/flat carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Well, not as good as hoped...the aroma is rather one-dimensional...the peat smoke strongly dominates, with a weird (but uncanny) incense note riding tandem (sandalwood?). And I like incense, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not really an odor that makes me salivate or want to eat/drink something. Nearly flat carbonation doesn’t work well with the syrupy sweet body. Overall it’s unusual but honestly it’s just not very enjoyable. Quite a disappointment considering the two brewers involved.

cgarvieuk (25391) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - OCT 13, 2012
Tap at De Molen Festival 2012 ... Deep brown ... soft honey malt nose ... deep roast ... dark fruits ... soft mellow roast malts ... dark roast and honey.

Vaiz (4460) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - OCT 9, 2012
Tasted at 4th BBF @ De Molen. Murky dark amber pour. Aroma is fruity, candy, herbs. Flavor is slightly sweet, herbs, licorice, candy, anise. Quite strange.
